  1. All four look fantastic. I love Leonor's raspberry dress. The color is gorgeous. I wish she went with a different color shoe. Sofia looks great in peacock blue. I like Letizia's dress. The feathers are fun and I like the cutout in the back.I love her gold clutch and heals. Her make-up looks fantastic. Felipe looks handsome as always.

  2. What a fantastic dress, the color is most unusual and it matches her eyes, the cape sleeves give her the perfect volume, the length and silhouette are perfection, the back has a very naughty and interesting peephole, and the feathers are just brilliant, love thus outfit, and the gold shoes and bag just add the perfect bang to the the dress. I never comment on the youngsters attire, they look as sweet and lovely as usual.
Such a well put together family, can't wait to see the them at the actual ceremony.

    3. @Jill They are underage to Americans. Eighteen is the age of majority in the US. It is considerate to leave them alone until they are officially adults. That is all that is meant. ~d

    4. Eighteen is the age of Majority in Europe too, they can even drink or drive a car (what in US actually is at 16).
Leonor turns 16 on 31st October, in a few days.

  3. I wonder what the comments on QL's dress will be, as I can imagine most of the reactions when another queen would have worn a similar dress. This comment doesn't imply I don't like the dress, on the contrary, I feel QL and her daughters look wonderful.

    1. It is a strange comment for me. What happens to the dress? Don't other queens wear clothes much more showy than a few feathers on a skirt? I do not understand your comment
Possibly other queens would not look so great in this dress because Queen Letizia can wear it thanks to her figure. Other than that, I don't understand the comment. Just my opinion

    2. @ MCS. Not every queen or crown princess can wore a dress like this. Letizia can. So why shouldn't she. The Spanish autumns and winters are generally softer than in the northern kingdoms of Europe so they can continue to wear light dresses and shoes longer especially at ceremonies like this .
Additionally every royal family take into account the rules and protocol of their country and government What is possible in one country is not always possible in an other country

      Isnot that the same thing?
What one can wear and another one not?

    5. I think I can guess the intention of MCS's remark. If for instance QMaxima had a feather decoration like QL on her dress, many would undoubtedly write whether she accidentally cut a boa in half and therefore sewed it onto her dress or what she was thinking when adding a duster to this dress ...

Of some royals 'out of the box' decorations/jewelry are very often negatively received, while for others it is almost by definition good.

  4. Crown Princess Leonor looks amazing in that very flattering fuschia dress. Is it fuschia? Infanta Sofia's dress would probably be better in a mid-calf length, as the pretty young lady does not have shapely legs. Cute dress though.

  5. Lovely dresses worn by both girls but I particularly like the smart pink dress worn by the Princes of the Asturias. The sisters have always looked very similar in size and style but Leonor is distinctly more grown up here-it may be the length of the dress and the smart shoes. I like the style of Queen Letizia's dress but the colour s too bland foe me--and even for her. I also think her hair could be more smartly styled for this event. All minor points against the smile on my face at seeing them altogether again.

  6. This dress brings the drama with the strategically placed feathers and thigh opening. It also matches her eyes. The cape sleeves add volume to the top half and the opening in the back forms part of a crossover effect . Sparkly gold earrings, and a French twist would have been perfect to add to the glam of this ensemble.
At the risk of incoming fire, and this is just about the dresses, Leonor's looker-me pink dress suits her mother. The center wrap cannot make for comfortable sitting, and she could be seen retying the sash in some pictures. She also wore this color quite recently in Santiago de Compostela. The family seems to want to highlight her, even though dad has many years to reign . Sofia on the other hand is less prominent in a dark color. The style and colors here are too heavy for them. Leonor also wore a similar pink Zara wrap dress in Mallorca. Lately, their dresses have become a variation on a theme, elastic at the waist, ruffle at the hem or gathered at the side.
Again, this is just an observation. The girls are lovely and one can see the similarities
a nd the rapport they have with Mom.

  8. Maxima can get away with feathers adorning her clothing, this particular dress on Letizia however looks like a feather duster (dust-mop) or a fake palm frond (stage-prop). No, no, no!

Wish the 3 had color coordinated, the peacock blue on Sofia is too dull, as is the sage green on Letizia, and while the bright fuchsia on Leonor is flattering I feel her overall look (style of dress and kitten heels) are too old for her 15 years.

On a positive note, they all 3 have glorious, shiny hair! S.M.

  9. The queen is super elegant and goes ideal with her green dress between classic and modern. Sofía in her line also very well and Princess Leonor for me, is spectacular. She has become a beautiful young woman and that strong color goes to her beautiful skin so clear and her blue eyes.

  10. @MCS, What are you talking about? Not being snotty, I just don’t get your comment, what reactions, and why should the dress have any reactions? In my view the back of the dress is no more audacious that dresses that show shoulders and a little cleavage.

  14. @MCS The only problem with any other royal wearing this dress would be some stodgy, made up rules or protocol. This is an overuse of "protocol".

The definition of protocol: noun 1. the official procedure or system of rules governing affairs of state or diplomatic occasions.
"protocol forbids the prince from making any public statement in his defense"

Also, royal protocol: The correct way to act in formal situations.

There is nothing wrong with Letizia's dress. It is quite lovely. She is showing the world that it is the 21st Century and she is not 100 years old. She has a modest peek-a-boo of the small of her back showing and I applaud her. She is also giving us interest in the front with the feathers down the skirt. It is not too much, but a detail on a simple dress. Gold accessories work so well here. Filipe and Letizia have a lot to be proud of. Their girls have not grown up too fast and that is a very difficult thing to accomplish these days. ~d

  17. I am mostly a fan of QL style, but I don't like this dress at all, except for the colour. I think the top of the dress and sleeves are too volimunous which make the arms look so much thinner than normal. And I would have liked to see the dress to be shorter.

  18. @ Jill, it shouldn't be necessary for me to clarify, I reaffirm that at 15 and 14 years of age one can be referred as " youngster" in conversation and minors in the legal sense, in my view it's irrelevant as to whether their bodies are almost fully developed . It's my practice not to critique teenagers or children, but this is my personal view, so no need for you to question my choice.
@ MW, no, I didn't refer to them as children, but youngsters which is what they are, why is it necessary to misinterpret words in order to start a debate that it doesn't even exist?

  21. Anonymous @ 15:46, to qualify a dress as " mother of the bride" has nothing to do with the importance of the wearer or hierarchy, it refers to a certain vibe in fashion. If/when you don't agree or understand the difference from a educated comment or a personal attack, you must refrain from insulting participants, it's disrespectful and ignorant, just like if I said, only Spaniards!! after your ridiculous comment.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous at 15:46, you don’t show to be very cultured, polite or even slightly smart with your insulting comments towards perfectly educated comments. If you are from Spain you surely don’t represent your country well. Also making up facts is not very smart, NO, the mother of the bride is not the second most important person at a wedding, that would be the “Madrina” (Godmother or matron of honor for those in other countries) and that honor generally goes to the groom’s mother, same as the honor of the padrino ( Godfather) that normally is bestowed to the father of the bride.
