Queen Maxima opened the exhibition "Viva la Frida! – Life and art of Frida Kahlo" in the exhibition hall of the Drents Museum in Assen. The exhibition contains the famous collection of paintings and drawings created by Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón and also a collection of biographical objects from her, including clothing, corsets and jewellery. These two collections are to be seen together in Viva la Frida! for the very first time.

    1. I especially love the headband; so Frida! It also ties in the skirt with the top. The Queen is resplendent!

    2. She gets another W in the win column, that's a couple sje has had lately. And great nod to Frida with the headband (probably the only time it would work).

QMax's headband with the flowers is a tribute to Frida Kahlo. That is also why the little girl is also wearing a floral headband. If you look up Kahlo's self-portraits, you'll see that she often styled her same way featuring a headband with large flowers. DIQ, resident of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, for16 years.

Even if you don’t get the headband hommage to Frida, you have to admit that the colours from the headband and earrings match the ones in the skirt perfectly!

  5. La démesure, elle est voyante et en rajoute toujours trop.
Le serre tête et le tee shirt, la couleur psychédélique à éviter.

  6. Lovely outfit. I'm just averting my eyes form the flowery headband. Otherwise, everything looks good. Hair is perfect and I am one of the minority who likes the gloves

There’s a reason for the flower headpiece. You all get it, right? Unfortunately, some are quick to criticize without first reading the notes on the event.

I was thinking the same. Goodness, it was a FRIDA KHALO event. Did anyone criticising her headband has read the description? Or seen a picture of this woman and her art?
The Queen looks fabulous and her headband is to the point for this event. I really loved her style today!

Anne Marie, you are right; certain people will comment on the headgear again because they think QM does everything she can to be the center of attention, but also I think it's a nod to the artist.

To me it's a perfect look today.

I agree. That happens so often. I am not sure the reason for the headpiece has been understood yet, but who else could pull it off? I love that she wore it to get into the spirit of the event, and even happier that she didn't emulate Frida's eyebrow(s). It is adorable on the little girl she is taking a picture with however. For a Natan, this is not bad. I think the bright colors and flowers are perfect. ~d

    4. Yes I admit my overlooking the info about Frida. Yes, can I add that my interest in Maxima's headbands has by now been worn out by some many earlier cases.

What can we say... Just perfect from head to toe, and with such bold colours too. This is a lovely look. I prefer these shoes and headband to the dark ones from the previous time she wore this skirt.

  10. Je me rappelle cet ensemble coloré jusque dans les chaussures déjà portés mais elle a su remplacer la coiffe style bibi par un serre-tête très fleuri ; tout à fait le style de Maxima !

Maxima looks great. The print on her skirt is gorgeous. The headband picks up the colors in her skirt beautifully and is the perfect tribute to Frida. The pictures of Maxima and the little girl are fantastic. The little girl is adorable. I love her "unibrow."

I think the headband takes the outfit into costume territory. Surely she’s not going to dress like every artist whose exhibitions she visits?
Otherwise, I think the outfit is flattering - good colours and a good fit. (V.M.)

Queen Maxima looks nice and cheery; I love the bright colours. The head piece is pretty; the little girls hair, with the flowers is nice. Style is the only thing I can think of; fantastic .

I know all about Frieda; however, it was cultural misappropriation for Maxima to mimic her clothes, etc. Fried can stand on her own. Clare
