On September 25, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Netherlands Bach Society in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. After the concert, the couple spoke with musicians and those involved in the Bach Society. The Netherlands Bach Society (Nederlandse Bachvereniging) is the oldest ensemble for Baroque music in the Netherlands, and possibly in the world.

The ensemble was founded in 1921 in Naarden to perform Bach's St Matthew Passion on Good Friday and has performed the work annually since then in the Grote of Sint-Vituskerk (Great Church or St Vitus Church). Every year, the vocal-instrumental ensemble gives more than sixty concerts in the Netherlands and abroad.

  1. As someone said earlier in the week, perhaps Queen Maxima should realise that Nathan is not her friend!! The top of this outfit looks fine, the wide, stiff trousers just look weird. Hair is good, earrings are lovely but the outfit fails to wow!

I don't agree. I think the dress looks very smart and sophisticated for the evening! The fabric, the cut, the colour.. And Maximas hair is really nice here.

The king could however consider doing something about his looks, his beard maybe. Looks a bit unpolished....

  2. I believe this looks like lounge wear, resort wear, for an intimate gathering. If in a moire color, or top/bottom contrast, or contrasting shoe or flourish....

Again, gran would say Don't be MatchyMatchy

Hope her injury is better very soon!

  3. I think KW-A should shave off his beard by now. It just makes his face look dirty, maybe it is his hair color that does not work so well as beard. QM’s hair is nice today, I also like the clutch and the eardrops. The outfit not so much, too decorated and too stiff materal IMO.

QM's outfit : top is fine. Pants should be a skirt or in a less stiff fabric. Earrings and clutch : very beautiful. Marcy

Queen Maxima's best hair look … long time seen, but the dress in a stiff fabric, cut and the big rosettes ,
    definitive not. Thumbs down.

  7. I think she looks lovely and finishes it well. But that fabric is sadly just wrinkly enough to not look good.

Maxima's hair and make-up look great. Love her earrings and clutch. I think the top would look better if worn with a pair of black pants.

I love the flare Maxima brings to her ensembles! Whether its vibrant colours ! Or her unusual jewellery collection ! It all reflects her personality! But, these pants wouldn't look good on anyone ! They're too long ! Too wide ! Too stiff ! Ana

I like the top of the outfit. The floral additions are a bit whimsical, but they would have looked better on a simple designed , straight dress so as not to overwhelm. I am impressed with the Queen's perseverance to attend, since she is obviously injured. She put service above self. Well done!
