King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are making a State visit to the Federal Republic of Germany on July 5-7, 2021 at the invitation of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The visit was canceled last year due to the corona pandemic and is now taking place in an adapted form. On July 5, 2021, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Budenbender welcomed the King and Queen with an official ceremony at Castle Bellevue.

  1. A lovely dress and hairstyle for Maxima, a pity the wife of the German President is injured.

Agreed. Lovely make-up also. The dress is better in Maxima's version than on the model. Very well done.

Spijtig dat de zoom van de jurk niet overal even lang is, anders een mooie jurk voor Maxima. Het staat haar goed. Ik vraag mij af waarom zij steeds deze schoenen draagt de laatste tijd. MJ

    1. Personally I have nothing against asymmetric length provided it fits with the whole.
Nothing against the very high heels if the ladies can cope with them... up to them. I am generally against deciding for other people, they are grown up, and you cannot say that the shoes are ugly. You may surely not like them for yourself, which is my case.

Love this look very much, it is so regal. And diamond bracelet for daytime, that is so Maxima.

Great look. The cut of the dress works well with Maxima's figure. The fabric is pretty. Wish she ditched the gloves.

  8. It seems like the only time Maxima's hair, dress and makeup is well done is during state visits and special occasions. She looks wonderful

It could be a nice dress when the hem was even and with ( short) sleeves.
Now it is a miss for me,

    1. I disagree. That would remove part of the attractiveness of the design as the fashion touch.

I agree with the others that Maxima looks lovely. The colours of the dress and her over all styling look very good. I watched the clips of them descending from the airplane (that the King flew) in the pouring rain in Berlin. She wore the same dress with a sweater around her shoulders. Pity about the weather, but Maxima's smile is a ray of sunshine.

  12. Gloves, but wearing a short-sleeved dress that doesn't suit you? She full of jewels and not to comb her hair, that thing in her hair.
Really, she has to land in the 21st century

  13. Pretty dress but I don't like the hemline--asymetrical hemlines might be fashionable but I am not a fan. Maxima looks wonderful here--well fitted dress and the ponytail is perfect for the weather. My only real negative is her "hat"--too bit to be a headband--the hole in the top is, in my opinion, silly.

I actually don’t mind it which is unusual if its Natan. Also like the darker shade of lipstick too

Nice dress, hair better because of the fake tail. Gloves always give something creepy.

  18. Great outfit. It appears that I can like a Natan design. I’m never a fan of asymmetric hems or doughnut hats but both look fine here. Prefer the dress as a full length one but clearly that wouldn’t work for a daytime reception. I like the colour of the accessories and kudos to the Queen for those heels on the cobbles.

The dress flattered Queen Maxima's figure, it was very coming. The pattern wasn't really for me, neither were the gloves or that jacket/shawl she was having drapped over arm – both seemed out of place. The clutch and headband though? Very well accessorized! I also agree with whoever said it before – as opposed to many other occasions lately, I am in love with her sleek hairstyling and fresh make-up here. She looks simply radiant. Please more of this in future! I'd also like to say that Elke Büdenbender was dressed impeccably. I admire her a great deal as a person so I'm always happy to see her accompanying Dr. Steinmeier on occasions such as this. – S

Can you tell us a bit more about Elke Buedenbender and why you admire her? Google tells me she's a judge, but maybe there are other reasons? I'm curious, I don't know her at all.

This is her best look in a while.
I also think a straight hem would be more attractive and it looks a bit snug across the top but considering the "gone with the wind curtains" she's worn lately, it looks good.

She looks lovely, I would have loved this dress more on a tea-length, but the silhouette is perfect for her, I can’t understand why she insists on big belts, ruffles, excessive volumes etc., when she looks fantastic with clean, simple lines. It would be even more elegant without the gloves and the eternal shawl hanging from her arm, that only clutters her image. I also like the headpiece a lot, good choice !!

This is surprising restrained for Maxima. I like it, especially given that it is Natan. I would like it more if the hem were straight. The silhouette is very figure flattering and the print is lovely. I see no need for the gloves. I am fond of the shoe and bag color. I wish she would make this kind of effort more often. What a difference. ~d

Apparently I cannot reply to this directly, so just in case you are still looking for an answer to your question – if you come across Elke Büdenbender in interviews you will quickly realise how well-spoken and genuine she is (in my opinion), which is what I admire. She is an advocat for women's rights. And since we are on this particular website – she once stated how much respect she had for royals and the special tasks they fulfil but that at every encounter she had, she also liked to look at them as the people behind the institution and found them interesting, lovely and unpretentious. She particularly mentioned Queen Maxima in this context actually, who apparently gave her a crash course in "block chain" at a gala dinner, something she thought she otherwise would have otherwise never understood. I will also say, I'm not one to idolize relationships but the fact that her husband donated a kidney to her makes me feel glad to know that there are marriages like that out there. But again, when you hear her talk about organ donation, it always comes across with much grace and no judgement, e.g. that she is grateful for this gift every day and wishes that more people made this decision but she understands that it is a very personal one, that may be influenced by many things faith included. That's the short answer and not about fashion. So I am sorry. -- S
