Absolutely stunning - hair, dress, jewels - this is Queen Max at her best. (V.M.)

Finally and thank you! Although many, including me don't think this is the best Stuart tiara setting and as such the best match to this earrings it is wonderful to be able to enjoy seeing great jewelry again. Dress in nice but not my favorite JT.

I agree the earrings are not the best choice here. They certainly are lovely but the mismatch detracts.
The dress is nice a summery but not loving the shoes and bag with it.

  3. Tiara, jewellery, hair, makeup are superb. Like the idea of the dress but it’s too embellished for my liking. The colour in most photos appears to be a pale lilac but in the third last photo it’s a more vivid colour, presumably the true colour. Not a favourite. Well done to Frau President both for the smart jumpsuit and for dressing it up with the evening gloves.

  4. The Stuart Diamond Tiara without the Stuart diamond. I'm crying. It's been so long without a tiara event.

Everyone looks wonderful. Even the tiara missing the big diamond looks great! Judy R.

Queen Maxima looks stunning; I love the dress. The tiara is quite striking, as are the earrings and necklace they enhance her beauty. Crutches aren't very fashionable ;just kidding, the Presidents wife looks good ,I like the gloves. That clutch bag looks creepy.

This is a beautiful dress and Maxima looks lovely in this style and colour. I like the one shoulder, the fitted shape and the train at the back. The dress looks very nice from the front (notice the angled embellishment), but too busy with embroidery when viewed from the side, though I suppose that's less important. Typical vintage style glamour. Jewellery, make-up and hair are perfect. Well done Max.

I really like this on Maxima. Taminiau makes great evening dresses, always very flattering and with great detail. Elke Buedenbender looks really nice too, although I would've preferred black gloves to make it a bit more stately (or maybe she tried it and it was too black overall, could be). She seems like a fun woman.

  12. I am rather on the fence about everything, Maxim's dress a bit too much embellished as said above. I am puzzled about the extreme contrast between the two ladies, I prefer a bit more of harmony.
Anyway congratulations to Frau President in view of her difficult situation. She probably tried to hide somehow the misery of her situation but such extra long trousers are a bit dangerous, she should not fall a second time.
From what we see from the pictures of yesterday she likes being dressed very soberly.

  13. Entre Jan Taminiau et Natan, mon choix est vite fait à part de très très rares exceptions. Elle est superbe dans cette robe mais au niveau des bijoux, ce sont les boucles d'oreilles et le collier qui ont ma préférence !

  14. The dress is beautiful, but as so often happens with the Dutch queen, too tight.

  15. El vestido lleva muccha "decoración" y encima la cantidad de joyas para mi va too much, el peinado anticuado, el resultado pues aparenta muchos años, la veo envejecida;

Maxima looks very regal again this time. The hair perfect, the dress typical for her. However, I find the way she has her protective mask wrapped around her forearm a little too casual and also unhygienic for the occasion. The mask should be stowed in a clutch. At the end of the day, that's not good royal style. Frieda

Hair: For once nice job Max.
Jewelry: A bit over the top considering the German counterpart under dressed to to do foot/leg in casting.
Dress: Not liking the embroidery, too much. Would have looked 100% better with less. A little too tight for my taste.
Bag/Shoes: Tacky, over the top, bag, with clunky shoes jj

Nice to see this beautiful dress again. I think the last time Maxima wore it was at the 50th birthday celebration of CP Frederik of Denmark. For the embroidery Taminiau found his inspiration on the old silk wall covering in the Japanese room of the palace Huis ten Bosch. I read somewhere that Maxima is a keen embroiderer herself; I don't know why but I found this quite surprising!

    2. Deadeggs, in Berlin there is a hairdresser's shop where customers are only allowed to stay for 20 minutes. The owner wears a shirt with a print on: "If you want to bonk, you have to look good." Whatever you want - a haircut, shampoo and set, have your hair dyed - the hairdresser will only spend 20 minutes with you. Maybe she went there...?

I find this dress a truly work or art, and it shows Máxima’s great figure, hair looks good, and jewelry is what you would expect from her. I have a question for those of you that know royal protocol, I was under the impression that tiaras are worn when you attend a estate dinner at a monarchic country or when monarchies host these dinners, but never when visiting a country where monarchy doesn’t exist. I am sure that she is following the appropriate protocol, but I just can’t remember other Royals wearing tiaras on these occasions.

I think very few people can pull off that many significant jewels at the same time but for me Queen Maxima can - just stunning! I was looking back at old photos of Princess Diana recently and was reminded how she also had a knack for pulling off many significant pieces of jewelry at once.

    ReplyDelete
  24. She enjoys being the center of attention. What a contrast with the President's wife, who looks elegant and dignified, is like they are attending a different state dinner.
Maxima looks looks fine, her hair looks good for a change, but I don't care for the busy dress or her ostentatious jewelry.

@Kteach, you can’t compare the status of a queen to the wife of a head of state. Although I generally find Máxima ridiculously over the top, I think that in state dinners this display is expected from the Royals… do you find Queen Elisabeth also ostentatious when she attends these dinners? Because she wears quite a bit of heavy artillery… funny how we judge different people …

…. and you cannot compare Maxima, who is a queen consort and not a queen in her own right, to Elizabeth, who is actually head of state. One of the reasons I am no fan of Maxima is her excessive love of and claim on attention, which borders on the untasteful. There have been many occasions, where she behaved as if she were queen and WA the consort….

  25. A necklace nearly always spoils the whole effect of a one shoulder dress. I agree the tiara is not the one she should have chosen with this dress. One with amethysts would have looked better. As a Dutch royal there are many others to choose from. I think this just looks too much bling with this dress.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous7/7/21 15:07

Lily T, wow!! Queens are queens and there is no protocol about how much much jewelry they wear in regards of how they arrive to their status, Sonya, Letizia, Sylvia come to mind. I must say that like Cherry states above, that I find Maxima’s sartorial choices generally overdone and most of the time excessive for her engagements, but I also agree that some people judge fashion as to whether they like or dislike the individual.

Every time I read a response from Lily T. to a message about Queen Maxima I get the impression that she has a grudge against her and that it is something personal; the commentary is always so focused on the person that nuances are hard to find. And no, I'm certainly not always in awe when it comes to the fashion Queen Maxima wears, but the way this queen is treated by some is sad

    Yes, it is sad.
I have the very same perception.
More than one single commenter seem to despise Q. Maxima' s persona and her outifts are just occasions to attack her for reasons beyond her mere looks ,which I can't/ don't want to even imagine.

      P.,

Totally agree; often I feel it's best to neglect certain commentary, but every now and then I get the feeling that I 'must' respond to let others know that certain commentary has nothing to do with fashion but with character murder (despite the fact that deep down I agree to Dora's today's post: "Do not try to defend Maxima against Lili.T. Waste of time")

Exactly, we should neglect some kind of commentary, but it gets hard when a few people take their aim at some Royal ladies in particular, i.e. Maxima , Charlene or Charlotte( who is not a a royal in the strict sense of the word) just to write petty and pointless remarks.
    Greetings.
