After parking up alongside their guests in the forecourt of the Palace, the Duke and Duchess met some of the guests being recognized for their incredible efforts during the health crisis. The Duke and Duchess attended the drive-in screening in a Land Rover owned by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The Land Rover was made in 1966 and is a Series 2A with some modifications. It was used by the Duke of Edinburgh for many years.

Beautiful tailored though far too long (best seen in pictures 10 & 11); quite a few inches shorter and it would have looked so much smarter. Ponytail goes quite well with this coatdress.

Pretty coat whose cut reminds of other coats already worn by Kate but it suits her well. I like the colors of the plaid fabric. Kate's coat is too long ; I prefer the length of the coat worn by the model in the photo on the left.

Wow, Kate looks gorgeous! This is one beautiful coat. These colors are meant for her. I love that she has worn the coat open at the top, not completely buttoned up as she so often does. Her shoes pick up the green in the coat. I like her hair styled this way. It is soft and looks youthful but not too young. How wonderful that they were able to drive Prince Philip's Land Rover. I have a feeling that we will continue to see things like this going forward. ~d

  5. Catherine's sapphire and diamond earrings are gorgeous, and I like her hair pulled back from her face. I'm undecided about her coat.

  6. Stunning! Love the whole outfit. The shoes pick up the subtle green from the coat nicely. The earrings are gorgeous and her ponytail very nice and curly, suits her a lot! I'm glad she hasn't had heavy eye makeup lately, makes her look more fresh and young.
Pity you can't see the gold, lightly shimmering skirt she is wearing underneath the coat, I love it!! The coat is a bit long, true, but she skirt has almost the same length.
A really memorable look, Kate looks fantastic.

I'd have liked the coat to have been shorter and without so many (or any) large shiny buttons. It would look less military. Otherwise it is an interesting choice.

  8. Love this coat. The plaid in the brighter colors is fantastic. Part of me thinks the coat is too long, but part of me likes it since she is so tall and slender. Great accessorizing, lovely earrings and I like the fact she wore green shoes. That bouncy ponytail is perfection. Prince William looks quite handsome as well. I just love this occasion, and the Land Rover.

Fabulous! This entire look is simply one of Kate's best ensembles, ever.

Everything about this is excellent, from frizure, to earrings, to neckline, to colour story, and finishing with green shoes.

This plaid is rich and interesting, looks great on her, and I'd wear it in a heartbeat! I agree with comment above how nice it is that she kept the neckline open, which elevates the entire look.

    Brava, Kate, brava!

Yes, the coat is beautiful in itself, but it's just too long, it makes her matronly. She often wears overlong coats, which are OK when worn open but don't look very attractive when closed. On the other hand, her hair is nicely done and she wears a nice and fresh make-up. Frieda

  12. I have been watching the longer coats and the slight issues with fit in Kate's clothes recently--during Covid--and have wondered if during the epidemic it has been difficult for her to go to fittings and get alterations done in a timely fashion. It seems to me that she has been wearing clothing just as it has been sent to her without the options of having designers shorten lengths and adjust seams to fit her figure. Like Letizia, her clothes have always been marked by the extra effort at tailoring and fitting to her very slim figure, but in the last year this has been very difficult to do in the UK. I have noticed the same amount of unevenness with hair and makeup with both Letizia and Kate. It will be interesting to watch as things open up and we go back to some greater sense of normalcy. I found this coat gorgeous, albeit, a tad long. But the plaid is beautiful and she looks lovely as usual.

Love the coat style & pattern but way too long. Would look better a little shorter or just below or on the knee. Mary i

  15. What a beautiful tartan! I know some people criticise the royals for wearing tartan too frequently when visiting Scotland, but this has potential to be great. It’s just spoiled by being so long which completely detracts from it in my opinion. The blue skirt the Duchess wore on Monday was also very long, so hope this isn’t new trend for her.
