  1. They look great.
I love to see jeans with a straight leg. I´m so over the skinny trend.

  2. Une tenue décontractée comme il se doit afin d'assister et même participer à cette journée !

  3. Not much to say about fashion here, apart from the fact we don't often see our king and queen in jeans. Makes them look so approachable.
I appreciate het Oranje Fonds a lot, it does awesome work, which Maxima also mentioned in her big interview.
I don't want to be one of those always complaining about her hair, but it looks extremely messy in the first photo. With her glasses worn in it, it's better 😉

Willem-Alexander is not on a photo shoot, he's crawling around in the dirt pulling weeds for a while; so, who knows, he might have hauled a pair of old jeans out of his closet for the occasion.

Yes, Máxima should have tied her hair back while doing work such as this outside. Almost as bad as ladies who work with food & let their long hair hang. And good on Beatrix, I do believe she enjoys these "NLdoet" days.

That said, I looked for photos of Amalia & Alexia & Ariane helping out since they're certainly old enough, but I haven't seen any (even searching from google.nl).

  4. The King's jeans need to go. They remind me of a throw back from the 80's group the "New Kids On The Block". A more classic jean would look much better.

There are more photos on the internet showing them both really getting down and dirty - on their hands and knees scrubbing, weeding...all kinds of stuff. This shows that they can be as down to earth and ordinary as any of their country's citizens and not just Royal elite. I admire them and applaud them for their good work. Bless them.

I like the way Maxima looks here. The cut of her jeans is great on her legs. The vest also gives her a slim silhouette since it is close to the body. It would have been the perfect time to pull her hair back. I am not super fond of the wash on Willem Alexander's jeans. I would have liked a more solid color on him, but we have seen him step outside the box before. Then there is Beatrix! Hair, makeup, and jewelry complete her royal gardening attire. She is the cutest. You go Beatrix! Nothing better than seeing royals as real people. It makes them so endearing. ~d

I think both the king and Queen look well dressed for the work they are doing. I have to smile at former Queen Bea with her ever-present blue eye shadow. She’s a treasure. (V.M.)

She would have looked better in jeans with a more narrow leg. They do not need to be skinny, but more narrow would be more flattering.

This would have been a perfect occasion for taking their three daughters along.

Both King and Queen are dressed for the occasion. I wish King Willem-Alexander would shave his beard as it makes him look scruffy. Queen Maxima seems to have fine hair which is difficult to manage, in this occasion, she should have tied her hair, I am glad to see that she is not wearing big and clunky jewelry as she often does.
