On May 7, Tanvi, Oscar, Thibault and Janne from the Sint-Barbara College in Ghent and also their teachers were guests of Queen Mathilde at the Royal Palace. To the Queen, they presented the artwork that they made for the Queen during their STEAM (Science / Technology / Engineering / Art / Mathematics) lessons to thank her for her efforts during the past year of corona.

The students have dedicated their creations to various corona heroes and in this context, also presented one of their self-made light graffiti artworks to the Queen.

STEAM teacher Nathan Vandenbroucke asked his second-year students to create a work of art with light graffiti or light painting and dedicate it to someone who they believe still does heroic work. Student Janne Matthys chose Queen Mathilde as her hero, because during the corona period she telephoned lonely nursing home residents, visited hospitals and encouraged the young people, among other things.

  1. I love this jacket. The colours are beautiful and it is a perfect shape and fit on Mathilde. The simple top looks better than the model's polo neck and the trousers are elegant too.

I love this outfit on Q. Mathilde. The Dries coat is bold and striking, and looks great worn with the simple black trousers and top. I think the earrings are interesting too, but it’s a little hard to see them. (V.M.)

  5. Queen Mathilde looks very pretty. This outfit creates a long and lean body line. The diagonal lines of the jacket are very modern-art like and draw the eye downward. Her pants and blouse are a perfect foundation for the jacket. Her earrings are nice but a bolder color would have work better, I think. All in all, a great look.

Great teacher, great lesson, great students, great Queen.

This is a super stylish look. Even more importantly, she leads with heart and it shows.

One of my absolute favourite royals. Kindness in action is the greatest statement, after all.

  9. I like the coat as well. The cut of the trousers is perfect, Stephanie should adopt the same one. They are a good compromise and fit most women. I agree she looks better than the model.

Yes, MaryT, I agree. A very distinctive jacket that looks quite nice on Mathilde & with tighter-fitting pants. ~Laurel~

Good looking outfit; I wonder if darker stockings would have completed the long flowing look, rather than it stop at the bottom of her trousers.
