The official boarding which is a yearly event that takes place on first Tuesday in May means the start of a new sailing season, which this year will lead the Queen to a Reunion Celebration in Southern Jutland, on a trip to the Faroe Islands and Greenland and on a summer trip to the municipalities of Thisted, Esbjerg and Fanø.

The tradition of the Dannebrog cruises goes back 80 years to Christian X, who was the first king to make annual cruises in Danish waters as a fixed part of his program. The King placed emphasis on using the ship as a starting point for contact with all parts of the kingdom. As a kind of sailing residence, the Dannebrog is a well-suited base for visits to virtually all regions of the country, since no place is far from the sea.

Two rich, royal colours, perfectly worn by a queen with perfect presence and composure. Looking good, Queen Margarethe!

    1. My first thoughts were that the hat is a "hand-me-down" from her cousin in England, Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Margarethe looks so bright and cheery; I love the red hat and cape, actually her shoes look quite similar to the shoes Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth wears. The anchor brooch is quite fitting.
