Empress Masako wore an ivory blazer and black pants to attend a sericulture ritual at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo

Empress Masako of Japan visited Momijiyama Imperial Cocoonery at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo and attended a sericulture ritual. During the ritual, the Empress fed mulberry leaves to silkworms. Growing silkworms at the Imperial Palace is a traditional practice carried out by empresses since Empress Dowager Shoken resumed the practice in 1871. The collected silk has been used in imperial ceremonies or as gifts.

    Belle veste blanc-cassé toute en légèreté portée sur une couleur bleu-marine ? mais peut-être que le haut de sa tenue est bicolore ? Très jolies boucles d'oreilles fleuries avec une petite perle centrale et surtout celle plus grosse au bout d'une chaîne ; sobre mais élégant !

    There is a sweetness, kindness on the Empress's face that even a mask can't hide.

    So...how does one do this? Do you just drop a load of mulberry leaves on top of the silkworms? Or do you lovingly put one of the silkworms on your finger and patiently feed it a leaf, while maintaining a dignified posture and an expression of ceremonial importance? :-) I'd love to know!

      Well quakeress@gmail.com it goes something like this .........
      You put one of these little beasts on your finger and scratch its back until it does its poos. Then you give it a bit of a mulberry leaf to munch on and when it's finished you start scratching its back again until it poos again and then eats a bit more of a mulberry leaf or something like that.

    The attire is very Scientific with the simplicity and white jacket. I am guessing the jacket is made of undyed silk from this project.

    The Empress appears to be having fun, a tradition of importance for all fashionistas :)
