Prince Edward expressed his feelings about his father's death during the Sunday service and described the sad news as a dreadful shock. The Prince said: "It's been a bit of a shock. However much one tries to prepare oneself for this it's still a dreadful shock and we're still trying to come to terms with that."

The Countess of Wessex also spoke about her father-in-law and said: “He always exchanged words with everybody because it didn’t matter what anybody was doing in and around the estate here or anywhere else, they all meant a lot to him, and he always took a very personal interest in everything that they were doing."

How lovely they are finally letting Louise grow! Well, I was having the impression earlier on that they were wanting to keep her as a little girl as long as possible. Be that as may, she has turned out a lovely lady, and I find the handbag a delightful addition to her adult outfit! - Ellie

    1. Agreed Ellie.
Lady Louise has developed into a fine, English lady.
I hope she continues to keep a low profile with her private life.

  2. Lady Louise has a resemblance of her Grandmother. She seems a lovely young lady. Not much to say about her clothes, but appropriate for the occasion.

  3. Despite the sad circumstances and the sorrow, I think Sophie looks very good her. Elegant and sophisticated. I know the occasion is sad, but to me she looks great.
Louise is also turning into an elegant young lady with the grace of her mother.
Loads of respect to the Wessex family to show up and attend this service. I admire them.

I think Louise will be a beautiful woman. She is still a child, but she will gradually become a swan. It reminds me of Grace Kelly or Nicole Kidman.

It's nice that Louise is finally dressed age-appropriately and not artificially put into little-girl clothes. After all she is already 17.
    It really suits her. Frieda

Lady Louise has an 'old soul' (much like her grandmother the queen at that age) about her. I think she'll be one to watch in the future.
I hope if it's a choice given to her, that we see her undertake royal duties.
Sophie looks looks lovely. She looks so much better in knee length clothing, than her recent longer lengths choices. Ana

  8. Lady Louise is maturing into a beautiful young lady. It just seems like last week she had the features of a child, now she looks like a young lady. The adult clothing suits her quite well. Sophie looks beautiful as always.

Lady Louise looks great here. Very stylish in the suit and ankle boots. I too hope she chooses to undertake royal duties in the future for she would be a great addition. A lovely family indeed. Ann B

  10. En cette triste circonstance, toutes les deux sont bien vêtues juste avec une pointe d'élégance - Lady Louise devient de plus en plus jolie ; elle se bonifie comme le bon vin !

Lady Louise is beautiful! Wow! And she's dressed nicely. I can relate to her thick curly hair; so I hope she can find a hairstyle that works for her (it's not always easy). ~Laurel~

A lovely family, a good support to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. It is thought that the Earl of Wessex will take the title Duke of Edinburgh at some stage. This family have just lost their father and grandfather. The Duke of Edinburgh had a good resolve.

  14. I've read it several times and I hope it is true: we will see more of the Wessexes. They are real assets to the BRF.

For now, the title of Duke of Edinburgh will be passed on to Charles who will remain the Prince of Wales since he is the Crown Prince.
But when Charles becomes King (and William becomes the Prince of Wales), Edward and Sophie will become the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. So yes, you will see a lot of them.

  15. They are always so down to earth yet dignified. Lovely family. I like Lady Louise's hairstyle and outfit--I always thought it sensible to keep her in age appropriate clothes (very much as the Spanish Royal family has done with the princesses) until old enough for public appearances. She certainly looks good here.

I agree with many of the comments that it is about time Lady Louise dresses appropriately for her age & not as a child. It does appear that Sophie & Edward wanted to keep her in a cocoon & keep dressing her like little girl. At 17 years of age there are lovely clothes out there for this age group that does not make them look overly adult yet nor a child. She does look lively in these photos. Mary I

  17. It is purely an assumption on my part however, I get the impression that Sophie the Countess of Wessex is/was very close to her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Both the Countess of Wessex and Lady Louise are very nicely dressed on this sad occasion for their family. As was said, it isn't a surprise, yet the death of an aged but much loved family member still shocks.
