  1. I love what Maxima looks like today especially the fun of wearing the orange masks (for Kings day.) I like the combination with the tapestry looking coat. However that boxy style makes her look large and badly overweight which she absolutely is not.
For the record: The Netherlands goes crazy on the official birthday of its king. Masses of people dek themselves, the streets, the shops and even the pastries out in the colour orange for the House of Orange.

I totally agree with you nalerina.

  3. Spectacular coat by de la Renta! Queen looks regal.

What a young and fresh look and by the way classy and elegant.

  5. This outfit just looks all wrong for this occasion. I'm not a fan of that coat, it is way too big and looks like a curtain from 30 years ago. I do like the wine colored separates though.

    1. Agree, Chel. The flowers are nice to me, but such big flowers on a long coat... it's too much. The shape looks boxy too, which Nalerina also mentioned.
The wine red separates are fine indeed.

    1. YES, and the whole look too a clean neckline, earrings subtly reflecting the floral pattern, gloves in a streamlined color, and a fresh happy engagement. Nice to see the couple together.

  7. The red suit looks lovely, I don't like the coat neither today nor earlier. The hair is ok in spite of windy conditions.

The coat kind of reminds me of Scarlet O'Hara making her dress out of the old curtains in Gone with the Wind.

    1. Hello Anonymous @ ck
Exactly what I thought. Hopefully there'd be enough of the frabric left to make some cushions .
But after such a nasty comment I must say that she is high on my list of Royal queens that I like. Even with all her lumps and bumps and fashion faults. In a way, she makes me feel normal.
I'd love to have her over for dinner. I'm sure it would be a great night.

The coat could be great, but not in this combination.
The oversized coat asks for a pair of trousers like the model is wearing: now it is wide over wide which makes it very voluminous.

    1. Oh, the trousers worn by the model are totally impossible for me; did she plan to clean the streets with her pants?
I think it over again but the same answer from me comes back : I very rarely like Oscar d.l.R's design.

  10. She's not wearing the coat, the coat is wearing her.

I think I will just say I prefer the way she styled it in the small picture next to the de la Renta pictures. It was buttoned, and I liked the green boots and accessories with it. It is one of those coats that should stay buttoned to look its best. I will now sit back and and enjoy the comments. ~d

Sadly, other than her beautiful smile it was all mish-mash of an outfit. No to the earrings, did not fit in with the deep colors of the rest of the outfit. No to the new hair extensions that made the hair longer, but in no better shape. Yes to her smile, and nice to see the King. cali

    2. My modest opinion, she is not wearing extensions on this occasion. She let her hair grow a bit.

  13. Think Queen Maxima is looking great here. Love the burgundy coloured separates and the coat is amazing. very few people could pull this off but she is one of them. Also think that the king is looking better--perhaps a little lighter and certainly not as dishevelled as he has done recently. Still wish he'd get rid of the beard though.

  14. A bold and beautiful coat! It certainly requires courage and charisma of its bearer as well as a tall frame, and Máxima sure has all of those.

  15. Beautiful Maxima, what were you thinking when matching all these pieces?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Queen Maximá is wearing a "Brillant MM" handbag made by the Belgian label Delvaux.
I like the matching colours of her accessoires but I am not a fan of red gloves.
