On March 22, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde took part in a commemorative ceremony to mark the fifth anniversary of Brussels suicide bombings in 2016. The King and Queen left flowers at a memorial plaque bearing the names of those killed at the airport that day. The King and Queen then travelled to Maalbeek metro station where Philippe placed a wreath in front of a memorial wall and another silence was held.
On March 22, 2016, three coordinated suicide bombings occurred in Belgium: two at Brussels Airport in Zaventem, and one at Maalbeek metro station in central Brussels. Thirty-two civilians and three perpetrators were killed, and more than 300 people were injured.
The Queen and King both look well-dressed and dignified for the utterly sad occasion of those heineous Islamistic terror attacks. What are "suicide bombings"? Mathilde's hat and brooch add to the classic elegance of the coat. The Queen and King look very sad.
