Queen Rania of Jordan participated in the online John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University. During her speech via video call to the online John F. Kennedy (JFK) Jr. Forum hosted by the Harvard University Institute of Politics, Queen Rania stated that, "for the first time in 20 years, extreme poverty is back on the rise."

The Queen described this as "a vicious, destructive cycle," explaining that inequality fuels the global spread of COVID-19, and in turn, the ensuing health, economic, and education crises fuel further inequality. The John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics is Harvard's premier arena for political speech, discussion and debate.
