March 14 is Mother's Day in the United Kingdom, and the royal family has been marking the occasion with social media posts. Mothering Sunday, known as Mother's Day, is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent. On her first Mother's Day, Princess Eugenie shared a new photo of her baby son August on Instagram. The photo shows August lying on a blanket in a field of daffodils and in her caption, Princess Eugenie wrote "I'm so excited to be August's mum and as you can see I'm enjoying my first Mother’s Day."
The Princess also shared a throwback photo of her mother, Sarah Ferguson, holding her as a baby. Princess Eugenie wrote the following: "I'm also celebrating my beautiful Mumma with this picture of us from March 1990. You’ve taught me so much. Happy Mother’s Day to all ". Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their baby son on February 9 at the Portland Hospital in London.

DeleteI agree. I don´t see the point in sharing this photo. Could be any baby. Sure, nice flowers but the whole setting is weird. It looks like they quickly threw the blanket there, placed the baby on top and snapped a photo without even looking. At least August won´t have been on the ground too long because it is still way too cold, and he´s not even dressed for outside.

ReplyDeleteThe picture is funny, I think. "Yes, I've got a baby and I'm showing him to the public because I am a minor royal, but I won't show his face because I am also entitled to privacy." I can't really fault her, the daffodils are a nice touch, but my mother and grandmother would have had a heart attack had I put my babies on the cold ground in early spring. Apparently, Windsor babies are made of sterner stuff. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe British people do not pay Princess Eugenie a dime, so she has every right to not show her baby's face. We'll just have to settle for a photo of a very much loved baby with beautiful flowers around

ReplyDeleteLittle August is dressed so cute. Eugenie is departing from the typical royal look and going with more fun and modern clothes. His whale pants look very comfortable and are very trendy, and you can't go wrong with bunny slippers this time of year. I think we should give them a little credit for not placing August in a cold, damp place for a photo opportunity. I would imagine that they are more responsible than that.
ReplyDeleteIt is very nice of Eugenie and Jack to share a new photo with everyone. They are under no obligation to do so. Children are not as safe as they once were now that we have social media. People have pushed boundaries far beyond where they once were a few generations ago. Technological advances have made it very easy to invade the privacy that every family deserves to have. Pictures can easily be altered and found on unsavory places on the dark web. Eugenie and Jack are like any other parents. They are protecting their child and should be praised for doing so, not condemned for failing to meet the demands of people they don't even know that want them to follow the traditions of generations past with the consequences of today's society. ~d
No one is condemning them for not showing his face, just not much point putting out the photo. We know they had a baby. It's just a pointless photo. Jessie

I don’t get the comments about the cold surface.. for goodness sake! a child can be safely placed on a blanket even in a cold day... just nitpicking I guess....

That's the thing all babies look the same so why not show it properly. Other choice don't show it all if you feel that way about privacy. They have no need to show there baby to the world at all.
