  1. I think Letizia's outfit looks superb - right earrings, right hair (love the loose strands that match the feathers), right shoes and clutch. I cannot fault the look and the way it flatters her figure. However, I think it is the wrong choice all together in this setting. IMO, a hotel dinner with clergy calls for a more demure look - especially if it is their first trip to Andorra as King and Queen. Bare shoulders are not appropriate.

    1. I totally agree. Only Letizia can wear such an outfit and still be a Lady from head to toe. BUT not in this setting.

    2. I absolutely agree. Letizia looks amazing and it is a fabulous outfit but not for this event.

  2. I admire (and covet) Queen Letizia's toned physique. It is hard to find fault with anything Queen Letizia wears, but, in this case, with clergy present, I think it would have been better had she dressed a bit more modestly.

Tout à fait d'accord ; cela a été ma première réaction car en présence du clergé, Letizia aurait pu se vêtir plus sobrement mais avec chic comme elle nous a habitués très souvent !

I am asking because I truly don't know--is it possible that she didn't know that clergy would be attending the dinner when she chose the outfit? A good idea at home may become a bad idea once at your destination and you know all the facts. It is not like Letizia to make this kind of error in judgment. I also think clergy are more worldly than they once were, so he is probably not shocked or offended. We all try to use common sense in these situations, but he is probably not bothered at all. I think she looks fantastic. Not many women could successfully wear this outfit. ~d

  3. A rare miss from Queen Letizia. After so long without formal events, I saw the heading and thought ‘magic!’ I was so disappointed by this outfit. No doubting that Letizia looks great but not for a formal dinner. It’s like an outfit to go clubbing. Reminds me of ‘Sandie ‘ in the film Grease for those old enough to remember it. A missed opportunity for some glamour.

  6. I am sitting on the fence here not sure what I think of this new Spanish influence (Maxima, Letitia) amongst the royals of feather dusters for decoration. Maxima took the lead a few years ago with one on her skirt bottom which was very useful for dusting the seat before one sat down. in between she found one of Beatrix's examples in green from moer than 30 years ago and wore that for one occasion. Not sure what Letitia is planning to dust with last nights example but I do think that her top would have looked far more elegant sans feathers.

Sorry but Maxima is not Spanish if not Argentine. The culture is totally different, we even speak different.

Spanish is a nationality from Spain in Europe, not a race, and you need to live 10 years in the country to get it. There are people nowadays with Chinesse ancerstors but their children are Spanish.

Moreover it depends on the part of Spain, people speak a different language and has a different culture. There are 4 cooficial languages: Castellano, Basque, Catalan and Galego.
It is a you would say that someone from New York is British.

Two Continents appart. I do not understand why people do not get it.

Actually the heritage of Maxima is Basque,(Zorregieta), not "Spanish."
Try to tell to the Basques that they are "Spanish".

When someone do not know about something, it is better to be quiet.. It could be even a politic issue. NW.

    3. Sorry what I actually meant Spanish speaking and if you are splitting hairs Maxima is now Dutch. You may call it Basque or Argentinian but they still speak a form of Spanish. A great many people in the U.S.A are still Spanish speaking. No one has called it a race. A great many of us speak English but we are Australian or South African or Canadian or from the U.S.A. We would not fall to pieces if someone referred to us as English speaking.

Hi Nalerina, I think the problem is that you call the language "Spanish" and it is "Castellano".
You do not say that people speak "British".
It is the same, the language from one ancient Kingdom, not a more actual Country.
      England, English. UK
      Castilla, Castellano. Spain.

    6. Thank you I stand corrected. Next time if someone asks am I learnig Spanish I will reply No I am learning Castellano because I love the pizazz of the clothes that these Castellano speaking ladies have when choozing what to wera even if it is sometimes too much still they go for it and that I admire.

  9. ¡Gracias, querida Reina Letizia!

Letizia is your Queen and you like her, but you see, everybody is entitled to have their own ideas even when they are different from yours.
I do not think this outfit is appropriate for the occasion either
and Letizia looks too thin to me as well.

Letizia has a great figure and usually good fashion choices. But this is not a suitable outfit for this state reception. I would wear this model to a disco and a night party with friends at the club.
Plus, her bony shoulders don't look good here.
However, I must say I ´m her fan and most of her clothes are excellent and she wears them well. But not this. And no, I'm not ultraconservative.

I think she looks fantastic, and I am glad that she dresses like an actual 21st century woman.... what is she showing that most other royals haven’t? Her bare shoulders? I seem to recall that at one point or another most have been know to show their neck and, arms, and shoulders... please look at pictures, even Queen Elizabeth back in her youth..... why all of a sudden she is judged by different standards?

Queen Elisabeth is the head of Anglican Church. She would NEVER wear bare shoulders for a meeting with clergy. Regardless of age. Whether the physique makes it ‘acceptable’ is a very unusual way to look at what is appropriate. This isn’t a Studio 49 styled occasion. Rather the contrary. Like it or not, there actually is something wrong with such a display. Plenty of glamorous options available for her to choose from already in her closet. That was just not the right one.

Firstly, I think Letizia looks stunning ! And her arms are to die for ! This outfit, I could see her wearing to the theatre, not, for an evening such as this. Ana

I agree with you, Veerle...ultraconservative! In my opinion Letizia looks fine for this occasion. Her shoulders are showing...oh no! Not one bit of cleavage is showing and most of her legs are covered. Great look for this official dinner no matter who was there.

How in the heck is being slim & well toned a bad example? So , if she was a few pounds overweight she would also be a bad example? Oh that’s right!! every woman has to have the perfect weight in order to be a good mother..... what a mean comment.

Actually, it’s possible even 20 year olds wouldn’t make a choice like this for a night out on the town. It’s quite tacky to say it politely. Most 20 year olds would be better styled.
