Why would she be pregnant? It’s so rude to ask that question... she looks exactly like she has for the past few months after having her baby. Do you people go around asking women that aren’t thin if they are pregnant? Such lack of manners!

    4. Clowance, that is exactly what I thought and why is it rude to ask? She would not be the first woman to have two babies close together in age. In any event, after looking great in recent photos and appearances, what on earth was she thinking of when putting this outfit together? The grey cape is too short and clashes with the beige sweater beneath, the tight trousers are not flattering nor are the flat shoes. She seems to be a lovely person but this whole look is terrible.

    6. When Princess Stephanie was not pregnant many asked here when she will get pregnant and according to some of you it was OK to ask such a question . And now suddenly that question is rude, why?

    7. It's rude because it's body shaming. We might wonder if people are pregnant in our own heads, but not a reason to ask. We can wait until they are ready to tell themselves if and when they get pregnant. How with you feel if someone asked if you were pregnant when your not. Not very good I guess. So how do we think Stephanie feels after seeing comments like this?

I don’t think it’s rude to ask if she is pregnant. It’s a joy to anticipate a little one. Charles has brought good feelings all around, and if another one is on the way that would be double smiles. Besides, when Meghan was pregnant with her second one some asked if she was pregnant, and it turned out she was. It’s so sad she miscarried. Abby

Every woman should critically evaluate her figure and choose clothes accordingly. Stephanie doesn't know it and probably doesn't have a stylist to advise her. I would recommend her not to wear tight-fitting clothes - skinny pants and big oversize clothes. On the contrary, she should wear an A-cut dress. She can take the example of Camilla - the Duchess of Cornwall - a lady over 70 years old and always has flattering cuts and colors.
Needless to excuse her that she's a young mother. Yes, she is, but unlike common people, from many of us, she has amazing options - staff, assistants, protocol experts, enough money.
She has a high position and it brings certain obligations and responsibilities.

    1. I understand your name is Stephanie as well. First I would like to stress how much I have sympathy for Stephanie (from Lux!). Surely she meets great difficulties in coming back to her original figure.
But these trousers are not too skinny, remember wider pants are not really suitable neither, they give a bulky look. Wearing flat shoes is ok, perhaps short boots might look nicer. But difficult to have a modern look wearing an A-shape dress, even for a top designer. Each choice of an outfit is a specific situation.
Just a question of patience enjoying the lovely pictures of little Charles.

To Mary T: Yes, my name is also Stephanie (in our language Stefania Maria, but in english I prefer form "Stephanie", beceause my english friends call me Stephanie) Only now did I realize the coincidence of names.

@MaryT I disagree with your assessment of what would look best on Stephanie. I think her pants look entirely too skinny, emphasizing her hips, which are obviously her problem area. If she wore a wider legged pant, her hips would blend in more instead of being so prominent. Her top and cape are much too short, ending at her hips, which draws the eye there. If she had worn a longer top, the eye would have been drawn to her legs which are smaller. The colors of both the top and cape are not right for her, only making her look washed out. I don't like her shoes too much. They are making her foot look abruptly cut off and stumpy. I think any outfit would be elevated with a shoe that has a pointed toe, like the woman wearing the leather skirt. It elongates the line of the leg and looks more elegant. The square toe looks more casual. The purpose of dressing properly and well is to accentuate the positives and disguise the negatives. Stephanie does the opposite. Again, I have to disagree with you, MaryT. I think Stephanie would look good in an A-line or similar dress and would be appropriate for these visits. Instead of hiding the upper half of her body in capes,
Stephanie should wear dresses and tops that fit her shoulders and upper body and skim the rest of her body, disguising her size while she recovers from her pregnancy. While she doesn't put much importance on fashion, I think it goes with the job and she should make an effort. I can't think of an excuse for looking like this. Stephanie has every resource available at her disposal. She should start by bringing in a stylist and building a basic wardrobe of separates that will mix and match well. It cost as much, both in time and money, to buy ugly clothes as it does to buy attractive clothes. ~d

    4. @ d. First my assessment did not go as far as yours. I can agree on some points : yes for a longer top and cape, obviously.
However on pants I still believe that wide pants are not the solution. We have seen such pants earlier from her and they were criticized. The point is also that there are several grades : wide, straight (possibly the good compromise) skinny and ultra skinny (let's forget about those... ) Longer top parts would improve the look. Regarding shoes, I'll trust you, you seem to be more knowledgeable than I am. To me Stephanie gives the impression she is above all looking for easy life considerations, but probably not good enough for her. Let's see what comes next. But I prefer simplicity to self-sufficiency etc...
The involvement of a stylist is often mentioned here, that requires confidence, good understanding... Not necessarily easy if someone does not have experience in dealing with such a person. I have been so many times in trouble with my hairdresser...

  5. This look is a total disaster and very unnecessary for a woman in her position. Why not hire a stylist to help her during this phase in her life? Being pregnant or being a mother does not mean one needs to look horrendous.

If only she would choose a longer and fitted coat that would make a profound difference. Also the color choices, black, light grey and cream, are the very least flattering on her (on anyone). She would look so much nicer wearing blue tones for instance.

I don't think we ever expect a lot from Stephanie fashion wise. Pre pregnancy she didn't always enjoy the joys of fashion. I think, she sees clothes as a purpose. I hope going forward she allows herself to dabble a little more with various fashions, and finds a style that suits her. Sadly today's choice is not one her best ! Ana

    1. But we can expect her to dress approriately and look polished. She looks like she just rolled off her couch and threw on an old rag which I would not even wear for a walk through my own garden.
In a neighboured thread we can admire Princess Benedikte, a lady in her seventies and still the epithome of royal elegance and class. Perhaps Stephanie should ask her for Help.

  8. That must be the worst outfit ever worn by a royal lady for an engagement. Not acceptable at all. Look at the tall lady with the short gray hair, she is dressed quite casual but manages to look neat and polished and she certainly has got only a fracture of Stephanie's clothing budget.

Stephanie is in urgent need of a stylist or at least a good tailor who has to teach her some basics:
The colours which suit her (beige and gray are not among those),
Make sure her clothes fit perfectly,
Choose clothes that suit and flatter her body type

She doesn't need to become a fashion addict, but there is a very broad range between a fashionista and a downright sloppy appearance.

  9. Stephanie looks very comfortable. That grey cape looks cashmere? Looks so soft and warm and just amazingly comfortable, like you want to cuddle up in it. I am looking forward to lifting of the mask restrictions, so we could see her beaming smile again.

I agree! She obviously feels comfortable in this cape and she looks very neat. I think the other comments are so harsh. The only thing I would change is a more elegant hairstyle. Nothing wrong with ponytails, but the combination with the cape is what causes all these negative comments.

    2. I really like the cape and think it is just a bit too informal, but the problem for me is that the color of the cape and the pullover don't match AT ALL. I love Stephanie but I have to agree with those posters who say that she isn't really making an effort to look good to honor the occasion and the hosts. It's okay not to be interested in fashion - but she's got a position to maintain, and looking presentable is in her job description. So if I were here, I'd hire a stylist ASAP.

    1. Honestly, I can't see anything mean in all of the posts. We are discussing an outfit, this is supposed to be a fashion blog after all. Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea if she was reading here because there are many fashion savy ladies posting here from whom she could learn a thing or two.
It is beyond me that an intelligent and educated woman in her late thirties like Stephanie is so absolutely clueless when it comes to look presentable and suitable. She may be a nice person, but showing up at one of her patronages dressed like this can easily be taken as a lack of interest and respect. We are all sending messages with the way we dress.

  11. I never like to be critical, I try and find something that appeals to me if the outfit is not appealing, we all have different tastes. This outfit, well, bluntly, I was shocked. Regardless of body type, this casual attire is not very enhancing in any way, especially representing the royal family at such an event. If there is indeed no stylist and Stephanie has put this outfit together herself, it proves, she needs assistance to teach her, colour, styling, fit and suitability of choice - garments, body shape has no bearing at all, you can always find an alternative that looks smart and suits you. This outfit would be fine, to run down to the shops etc.. She is such an attractive woman, with a great smile and lovely personality. I feel if she was lead in the right direction, she would look more professional and groomed

If you were to run into Stephanie and did not know who she was you would think she was just another person running errands, picking up her children at daycare. To me this is the not what you would wear to represent your country at an event at the National Museum of History and Art.....Fitzhugh

Anonymous @00:17,talking about whether somebody can or want to get pregnant is not only rude but I’ll mannered , it’s a very personal, intimate subject, and definitely not an issue to be ripped apart by strangers. It is also rude and unkind to speculate whether a woman may be pregnant because her body may not be on “ perfect “ shape. Lack of manners has nothing to do as to whether is approved by the readers of this blog, I believe most of us where told by our mothers and educators that some questions should never be posed..
How old are you? How much do you weigh ,how much money do yo make, are you pregnant? are you able to get pregnant? Etc.......
