The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Spotify's Steam On event to talk about their new podcast. After sharing on Valentine's Day that they are expecting their second child and Buckingham Palace's confirmation last week that the couple won't return as working members of the royal family, The Duke and Duchess made a surprise appearance at Spotify's Stream On event on Monday. The Duchess wore a peplum dress from Oscar de la Renta.

Love the dress , it is from the new Oscar de la Renta collection . The hair and make up also look nice and fresh .

  2. Love the choice of dress by the Duchess. Nice prelude to spring.
She is supporting the mode American with Oscar de la Renta, the famous American/International stylist. Her soft makeup compliments well the dress.
Prince Harry is taking on more and more his "cool" Californian look with his casual, open neck shirt.
    Nice photo of the couple.

    1. Deadeggs, fully agree with you. Meghan looks lovely and her wavy hair looks shiny and beautiful. I've always preferred her hair more loose than very straight and tight, it suits her face better this way.

And to the blog administrator or moderator, Ellen: Thank you for keeping us updated, even though Harry and Meghan have stepped back from royal duties. I'm glad I can follow them here, and Meghan's fashion of course 🙃

They both look very good here. I really like Meghan's dress. It is perfect for the climate, which is warm right now. The print is fun and well done, not kitschy. The dress is a longer version of the one shown; it would be nice to see a full length image. The leaves around the neck are a bit too much for an every day look, but might work for a special event. Again, she wears minimal makeup, showing her freckles. I like the darker pants on Harry--I always have. ~d

I love, love this Oscar de la Renta dress. It reminds me of the de la Renta dress, Meghan wore while on tour in Australia. I hope to see both dresses again. Make-up looks fresh and natural. Her hair is well styled but I think she needs to cut a good 4-6 inches off. It overwhelms Meghan's delicate features.

The room is nice but lacking personality. It needs artwork, photos, books, something.

  5. Nice dress--perfect for early pregnancy. Like the pattern and the the peplum style. Looks longer on Meghan than on the model which would make it even better.

  6. If the dress is the same as the model then it is a low-waisted dress not a peplum dress. In the first photo I thought I like her more sleek hairstyle wit a few curls at the bottom then I saw the more full body photograph. I do not like all that hair pouring down the front on either side of the front one bit. I don't mind it very long but I think it should be tied back. She looks like Tarzaness.

I don't like this spaniel look either. Hair much too long. Dress has a very nice pattern - I have a very nice shirt with exactly these Italian lemons too - but form, almost a kind of babydoll-look - for an almost 40-year-old too girly. Frieda

    1. Please please please let's have enough of this. New my Royals is a great fashion blog which I really enjoy. As so many have said it is not the place for pathetic comments of a personal nature. I keep my views to myself as no one here knows the real story about anything and quite frankly the rest of us aren't interested. I dearly hope that we can be left to our relevant and knowledgeable comments. If anyone needs proof that goodness is something precious to strive for look at the previous post regarding Bhutan.

Alice, what are you talking about ? For some reason I can't expand the picture so I can't see her hand in detail. Do you mean that she is not wearing her engagement ring.? If that is the case, it could be that her hands are swollen, it happens a lot during pregnancy. I still don't get how do you know that Prince Harry is sad, how in the heck do you knock his feeling?
That is about one of the weirdest comments I have read lately.

    4. I think that what you mean is that about a year after they married there were very small diamonds added to the band of her engagement ring that is all. In other words instead of a plain gold band to the engagement diamond ring all they did was add very small diamonds all the way round it so the ring has a diamond band. Not a major change just an addition. I personally thought it looked prettier before but that is just personal taste.
As to that making Prince Harry sad!!! Did it actually occur to you that it might have been a present to mark a wedding anniversary a year later or some such explanation. Or maybe they both thought it would look prettier.

  11. I love Meghan's dress, her makeup has a natural effect, and her hair looks healthy, but perhaps a bit too long. Harry looks quite handsome in his white shirt and navy pants. While I know that Harry misses his family, they seem happy in their new environment. I wish them well.

  13. They both look very fresh and healthy here. I love lemon prints. Not a huge fan of trapeze/drop waist dresses but they do make excellent maternity options.

I agree with her hair being too long though. I found the length that she wore announcing their engagement to be most flattering. She is a petite woman. It overwhelms her frame. But then again maybe being pregnant, she doesn't want to risk exposure for a haircut. Princess Eugenie's hair (and the dyed ends) had grown out in her latest pictures too.

I agree, the clip on extensions, her hair dresser said she put in her hair for this photo shoot, are just not necessary. Her own hair should be lush enough (taking pregnancy vitamins). Being almost 40, she is definitely past the time for 'super long' hair. With her petite face, she'd look great with a short cut.

@Anon 2:17 Sorry, I didn't catch your name. I couldn't find the source for Meghan's hairdresser sharing what she to her hair for Spotify. I only found a story on a tabloid site from a celebrity hairdresser from the UK giving his impression of what he thought was done to her hair. He mentions clip-in extensions were probably responsible for the look. He also calls it a "Hollywood makeover" which always gives me a giggle. He is in favor of the clip-ins and Meghan's look. I would love to read the source from Meghan's hairdresser you cite. Would you please post it?

I don't agree that there is an expiration date for long hair. No matter the age, hair must be cared for and styled. Young people with long hair that have thinning, split ends that are dry and bleached out look terrible...much worse than a forty-year-old with healthy long hair. I also don't understand what is wrong with clip-ins. On the rare occasion Maxima wears them, the heavens rejoice. I can never be sure if extensions are the problem, or if it is really a Meghan thing. ~d

I truly didn’t want to comment because this thread will become another excuse to be nasty to this woman. As a hair stylist and beautician with more than 25 years of experience, It bothers me how people throw opinions of issues that know nothing about.
    1. Long hair is not just for teenagers, while most women as they age a loose fat in their faces, others can look great with longer hair. A lot has to do with ethnicity, Native American, Asian and African American women tend to look fantastic at any age with long locks. In this case The duchess looks youthful enough to wear her hair as long as she does in these pictures. Is just a preference.
    2. Yes I would say that she is wearing extensions, but they don’t look cheap or badly placed, much to the contrary, I have seen a video and her hair looks lustrous and fabulous.
All of you stating that the hair looks bad and cheap, are just throwing anything to see if sticks. It would be refreshing to read opinion based on fashion and style from women that truly can separate their biases from their opinions.
    Peace out sisters!!

    1. Agree with you whole heartedly. I am not so sure she wears extensions. Her hair has gradually grown much longer over the last year or even two. I don't care if she wears a wig or plaits or fringes or whatever. If she looks gorgeous and it suits her go for it. I bet that 90% of all the complainants colour their hair, curl their hair, straighten or blow dry their hair. THAT apparently is OK! My only quibble is that I don't think all that hair in front of her face suits her. She is so attractive with it straight off her face or a centre path and scraped back hair which not many people can get away with and she has a lovely face which I want to see. All that long hair is fine but tied behind her head I just find far more attractive on her if it is that long.
As for the dislike of her low waist (80's) dress. I think it is an excellent solution she is 7 months pregnant for heavens sake I far prefer it to all those ladies who insist on tying a belt just under the bosom and above the bulge making them look so uncomfortable.

The dress is a beautiful seasonal piece and has a California vibe. Many homes have citrus trees planted in the yard. It's roomy enough than an expectant mom can wear it for a while. For the naïve, most of the women who work in front of the camera have some sort of hair enhancement. Pointing it out is considered gauche. Whether it is too much or too little, she paid for it so it's hers.

@The Fan Girl You make a lot of good points. Yes, it is very common to see citrus trees in California yards, front and back. Sometimes it is difficult to get rid of all the lemons! The lemon print is very appropriate. As for hair extensions, it is very true that people that work in front of the camera do enhance their hair because of high def. It doesn't need to be extensions, it could be colored powders to fill in hairlines. I have used the powder myself when I had some hair loss due to a medical condition. It became very apparent when COVID lockdown had our local newscasters broadcasting from home. It wasn't just the quality of their makeup that changed. Hair color, hair lines, and hair thickness changed overnight. Regular people started learning how to focus on these very things because of how they looked in their zoom meetings. We have seen the comments here on how the royals look on virtual meetings. It is a big thing now. It is not exclusive to Meghan. Lastly, your comment that Meghan paid for her extensions, so they are hers reminded of an old Dolly Parton quote. Known for wearing wigs, but people still wondering if it is her hair or not, “People always ask me if they’re mine. Yes, they are—all bought and paid for.” ;) ~d

Spreading rumors, based on dubious publications, judging people and just being rude doesn’t do it for me, and frankly there are venues better suited for the keyboard warriors to get down and dirty. I feel the same when this nastiness is directed to any other Royal.
Finally, if you feel insulted by my comments I must’ve touched a nerve.

Again, you are giving no contribution, just judging commenters' views different from yours.
If you do not like others' opinions, you should not be on a public site.
I do not feel neither touched nor offended and why then?
      It is not the case.
      Regards.

@ 7:57 How much style should there be in a roomy dropped waist dress with a gathered skirt for a pregnant woman? The appliques of leaves and citrus fruit are what makes it special.
Someone mentioned that it looks like beach wear or a tablecloth. At this price, no. A mass produced version in print , not appliques, would be more familiar.
Most famous people have spoken to Oprah. Politicians, artists and musicians, to name a few. Why the doom and gloom even before the episode airs. They are allowed to speak their truth. Whether they use their connections or not, they are paying their own way so as not to be at the mercy of people who tell them what to do and when. It's called Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

      @Ed
There are some higher street fashion stylists who use shapes, prints and patterns in their creations which look very much similar to beachwear.
If a dress or any other item is pricey, it is not automatically the best piece of clothes one can buy(IMO).

    2. @M. The difference is that these are neither prints nor pattern repeats, they are appliques, meaning done individually by hand, probably in a small quantity, and therefore more pricey at the retail level. The point is, the more labor intensive the piece, and the quality of the fabric determine the price. Whether it flatters the wearer is another issue.

      @ Ed.
Yes, I know, because I have direct access to Italian fashion and also to international stylists, so I am used to seeing and wearing some of these pieces of clothes.
I do not have to go far, you see, Italy is full of high street shops and Italians have a natural penchant for fashion.
Oscar De La Renta is a very good stylist , but I do not like this dress, whereas I like other pieces of his collections.
The point is that not all is pricey or handmade is beautiful.
It can be for some, but not for everybody.
      Regards.

@M. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' or in this case, the designer. I stand by my earlier statement that the quality of the fabric, labor involved and the design house determines the price. If you are not the target buyer then liking or not is irrelevant. I also speak from experience,....within the global industry. Ed

@M, when one doesn’t have a good argument reverts to phrases like “ worshiping ‘ nah...
I don’t have a horse in this race, just don’t understand that need to be judge, jury and sometimes attackers, without knowledge and facts to perfect strangers... not the way I spend my life.
You do you, I do me.

You should read my comments better.
I commented on the dress and hair, which I am not forced to like.
      This is the true meaning.
Hope nobody is forced to like what you like.
I surely am and will always be me and I have a right to say what I think.
I have not a horse, either, just my free views.
      Cheerio.

  41. I feel these two people M &H caused so much division among people. Honestly speaking they are nobody beside their titles. They are money sucking celebrity, not sure they are qualified as "royals" here anymore.

@ 6:05 No, they made a decision to move away and start a new life. No one deserves to live a life chosen by others. It is outsiders who have picked apart every word and piled on the nastiness. The family also bungled the negotiations. The press got their scoops from somewhere. And the lightweights believe everything they read.
