The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting a second child. The Duke and Duchess, are expecting a second child, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess on Sunday. "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child," the spokesperson told media.

Buckingham Palace says The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are ‘delighted’ by Harry and Meghan’s news and they wish them well. From the photo it appears to me that the Duchess is more than 4 months pregnate ......... or could it be twins?

The photo looks straight out of some romantic tale. I think they announced the birth of their first child at Eugenie's wedding. Usually Royal protocol allows time for each Royal announcement.

Very happy for them both. I'm sure many will think this an odd comment, but shouldn't this be their 3rd child, since Meghan herself referred to her miscarriage as "losing her second"?

    1. That is interesting. I'm not the arbiter on this terminology but perhaps third pregnancy/baby and second child to be less confusing since unfortunately the Duchess' second pregnancy miscarried?

@2:15am - Please... let it go. Miscarriage has happened to a lot of us; we put it behind and move on. Is the Meghan/Harry baby going to be forever the "third child" when there never was a second? ~Laurel~

    3. Anonymous15/2/21 02:03

I think if the child is born then lost yes. When it is a miscarriage although it is always your baby and you never forget it, it is a little confusing for others to refere to it as a child. I say this from experience our lost one would have been 30 this year and my husband I often think of her, we lost her at 16 weeks.

      Delete
    4. They will decide if it's their second or their third.... It belongs to them. Why do we have to be concerned? I had three miscarriages, nobody ever asked us that. Way too personal.

It is not only an odd comment but totally bonkers. A miscarriage is the loss of an unborn baby or perhaps just a foetus. Calling a miscarriage the loss of a child may play in the woman's mind, but it is still a miscarriage. - I miscarried 6 times, at different stages, and ended up with a wonderful daughter with the 7th pregnancy. She is my child. If ok with you, she is my child, and not my 7th child, because miscarriages are a private matter with a lot of mental as well as physical pain, and it's no business of anybody else to remind me of having lost 6 unborn babies. - Ellie

    7. Anonymous15/2/21 12:23

Anon 6:12 - how has his view changed? He said he would have 2 children - this will be his second. Are you suggesting that a miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy was the last chance and they shouldn't have gone for a third pregnancy? Or are you just looking for a chance to snark?

      Delete
    8. Beautifully put Elle. I'm sorry for your loss but happy for the birth of your daughter.

@Anonymous 6:12AM, it was Prince William who explicitly spoke about overpopulation (in regards to African nations...). Prince Harry, in his conversation with Jane Goodall explicitly said he and the Duchess desired 2 children (which is the replacement rate).

How sweet that they honored Princess Diana by announcing the pregnancy on Valentines as she did when she was pregnant with Prince Harry 37 years ago. I'm sure she would have been so proud.

@Kteach, it seems to me that most pregnancies aren’t announced until after the first trimester ( at a minimum) simply because miscarriages are not uncommon that early in the pregnancy. No, her second pregnancy wasn’t announced , because that child was lost before it would have been prudent to do so.
Your bit of poison pill is not missed, leave up to you to make such a heartless comment. You don’t have to like this woman, and simply scroll... however you found it necessary to make a cruel statement. So sorry for you.

Kteach, you are correct about the timing. They chose to announce their pregnancy on the anniversary, February 14, that Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry. He has said he will always keep his mother in mind, and this was a beautiful way to honor and include her. If you are insinuating that timing was to deliberately take the focus off of Eugenie and Jack's baby, I am afraid you are looking for trouble and that would be sad. There will always be something going on with a family that size that they can be accused of trying to grab attention from. If it wasn't this, it would be Eugenie's baby's name, the birth of Zara's baby, the Queen's birthday, Prince Philip's birthday...the list goes on. Why is it so difficult to just be happy for them?

Usually miscarriage happens before fourth month and it was apparently so in Meghan's case also. Nobody (royal) usually announce pregnancy before forth month, but sometimes it unfortunately leakes from someone.
Eugenie was sure enough in the limelight after baby birth and is surely happy to be in peace at home with her little family.

I'm very happy for Meghan and Harry, I really hope that everything will go well this time.

I had two miscarriages before I got my first born and then one again before my second. Every miscarriage happened before the end of the third month and I have never said that I have five children, I have two and I am happy and grateful for that.

They don’t want paparazzi following them all over the place, sticking cameras on their faces and selling pictures of their baby and themselves, so people like you can devour them and start the rumor mill.

Actually based on the fact that Princess Eugenie is staying at Frogmore and in the past has flown to Toronto with Jack Brooksbank to go on a double date with the Sussex couple, it seems like they are quite close and presumably things are fine between them. The Sussex wanted to pay homage to Princess Diana's announcement of her pregnancy with Prince Harry. If we are grasping at the straws than may I suggest that Princess Eugenie give birth at a date that wasn't as close to that of Princess Diana's pregnancy announcement 37 years ago?

By the way, Eugenie is her full and proper name. It's not Eugenia. You may have thought that it was a nickname like Prince Harry's (Henry). I guess it does prove your point about her limelight been stolen. People don't even get her name right...

However, I do not understand how it would make your life easier, less complicated more informative to know who post what. Would it affect your quality of life, your ability to profit financially or just how. I do not understand what purpose it would serve to know a complete strangers name, character, likes, dislikes habits etc. It should not be your concern or business at the end of the day. By requiring a complete stranger to disclose this information has no bearing legally or morally. You need to let your concern go. I believe in the first amendment. I also think this blog would be boring, less interesting and just wrong to prevent some people from expressing their point of view like you have the privilege to do so!

I too had high hopes of what the Fab Four could have been. But when that ended I was not gutted. I just thought back to the interview in South Africa where Meghan said she was not okay and then realized whatever decision they made must have been the best for them.

I am all for this here. Conversations would be easier to follow, and it would probably cut down on the trolls. "Members" would have a site that doesn't run off the rails like it does now.

No disrespect but you just said that those using screen names would help curtail the trolls. There are just as many vile, atrocious and dreadful comments incited by those who post with a screen name as the ones who post as anonymous. Hatefulness does not discriminate. Furthermore here you are preaching about using screen names and you did not use one yourself!

@2:05 I used to post with a screen name. I did so for a very long time. I stopped because I don't like being associated with the tabloid vibe this blog now has. The tone here has changed A LOT over time. It used to be primarily fashioned focused. Now it seems that anything goes. My screen name comes up on other sites I visit, and I want to keep my life on a site with this level of vitriol separate from the rest of my online life. I have recognized screen names from here on other sites. Posting anonymously is the best way I can think of to still participate here. I am an advocate of a members only site to help tone down some of the tabloid antics. I am an example of someone that is more free with my words as an anonymous poster. If I went back to a screen name, I admit that I might be a little more careful. I think that would be true for many of the people who post anonymously. Some sites give members a time out for breaking the blog rules or ban them all together. I don't think that would happen here, but it just seems to get a little bit worse as time goes on. You are absolutely correct that people with screen names can be just as bad as those without. At least we know that "X" always says the same old crap and it is not three new anonymous people jumping on the bandwagon. It can be a hot mess trying to figure out who said what. As it is not up to us how this blog is run, we can only give our opinions.

Yes, you are quite right and I myself could use my screen name.
You see, some people may be trolling even when using their screen names and we do have plenty of examples both here and on Charlene's posts full of nasty or even cruel comments.
The only way is avoiding publishing harsh and cruel comments irrispective of the names or no names being used.

Congratulations to the couple, and best wishes for an easy pregnancy and a healthy child.
Lovely picture, and more importantly Henry seems to be happy and settling into his new life. He even wanders barefoot around his new castle.
After reading the comments, what a treat it would have been they had made no announcement, done the Oprah 'sit down' and never mentioned Meghan's obvious pregnancy which would just be there like an 'elephant in the room'. Pass the smelling salts!

  35. This blog /site is becoming a poor and shoddy place, where people enjoy showing their arrogance and frustration, and rarely comment fashion. A kind of "elegant" facebook where being agressive is easy and permitted.

It has nothing to do with "someone". It has everything to do with the people commenting and their inability to behave in a civil way. We teach toddlers and preschoolers not to behave this way. At least when children act mean or hateful, they do it toward a child they actually know. The so-called adults here lash out at people they don't know, have never met, and will never meet. Their desire to hate is so strong that they will believe any gossip from any source just to feed their addiction. I don't include the rare few people that can say they usually don't think much one way or the other for "someone" but 'I like this' or 'I am happy about'...at least they are being honest without a bias. What is happening here is like toddlers testing their boundaries and there are no parents to set them. The result is a blog that has run amok. As adults, it is a shame that we should need someone to tell us how to behave, especially on a "royal forum", but we do. If the direction of this blog is changing from fashion to tabloid and hate speech, we should be told so we can each make a decision as to whether or not we want to continue to visit.

@ precipite.. how dare you call people out, you just called somebody “ ignorant” above. Her comment was kind of a joke about your what I assume is a made up name... but you insulted the commenter and then got on the high horse and pretend to be offended. You’ve got some nerve!!
By the way, most of us are familiar with your post and they are anything but polite or civil.

There was an excellent article on Harry and Megan and their critics by journalist Marina Hyde in the British daily newspaper The Guardian on Tuesday. I would highly recommend it to many of the commenters on this thread.

Fashion wise there's not much to comment. Photographically it's a nice set up and photo, they could be from a movie advert.
Comment from this blog, well , it's what you expect now a day on any social sites. The thing is people felt strongly about this couple one way or another.

As for the photo composition: I think Harry's big foot in the foreground, enlarged by this perspective ( i.e. being unmistakeably in the foreground), is a very poor composition feature. Not because the foot is naked and not because a naked foot is "unroyal", but simply because it is ridiculously dominant in the picture, but it does not enhance the "message" of this photo, quite to the contrary. A professional photographer should have known better.

@Foxy....excellent article, and there is a link on the same page to another article which explains why Meghan won the suit about the letter to her father. These articles relied on facts whereas other gossipy articles are aimed at 'low hanging fruit' unwilling to question shady information that could only have been invented or leaked. ....and the argument over screen names...ridiculous! The argument over screen names s off topic but it isn't ridiculous. It raises a valid point - people using a screen name would make following and contributing to discussions much easier.

Why do you bother to sign your posts?

Of course it is ridiculous for adults to argue over screen names. There are times when the filter is activated comments are not allowed without registration and a screen name. A signature was required when the filter is off - then that stopped so the Anons multiplied. A thinking person would either reply to a poster by the name provided, or by the time stamp of their post. This does not require rocket science. Why a two day argument by adults over this?. No one has to follow instructions from a fellow poster (with all due respect to Deadeggs)
In addition, some people seem unable to detect when they are being trolled. There are those who leave incendiary statements that have nothing to do with the topic, then sit back and watch others fall into the trap.
      Here's looking at you Bob.

  40. Hello Madam Deadeggs here.
I'll be brief as spending more time on the subject of "Anonymous comments " is not going to get us anywhere.
The subjuct has come up before and as one blogger said "the moderator is not interested".
I probably wasn't clear enough when I made my comment.
In short, I find a blog easier to follow and to participate in its subjects when pseudonyms/blog names/ nick names are used.
    End of story for me.
I am with another royal blog where anonymous enteries are not accepted.
If you prefer to use "anonymous" for your comment, then stick with NewMyRoyals.
O.K. time now for a good cuppa.

I would like to say that if commenters would like to post using their name , nickname, etc or as anonymous that should be their choice. The commenters who complain that it makes life difficult for them because they cannot express their opinion on their comment, well that is their problem. If everyone had to comment using a name this would limit the comments we all seem to enjoy and this blog would be SOooo boring. By using a name is not going to stop trolling as some seem to suggest because I have read vile, atrocious comments from both sides!

"It is quite simple".....If someone would prefer to not use their name as they have that privilege then they would not be able to post a comment. So if people are not posting comments like they use to because they had to have a name then naturally there would be less comments. I hope I cleared this up for you. My apology! TB
