  1. Sometimes Máxima's choices are quite beyond my comprehension. A sleeveless dress and it did not get above 10 degrees centigrade today and was windy and rainy on and off the whole day. Then a matching coat but over her shoulders even while sitting in a chair. Houses, flats, schools public buildings are NOT overheated in this country like they are on the other side of the pond and ventilating is high on the priority list during Corona time so there is plenty of fresh outside air entering buildings via windows and doors.
She is must be prone to many tropical moments during the course of her days. Maybe that explains it.

    1. I often don't understand her fashion choices either. But this rich red colour looks fantastic on her, and nicely combined with a matching mask.

    2. Ever heard about meno pause? When everybody wears a warm jumper in the room I am the only one with a sleeveless summery top. I do not care what they think about that, I feel better by that and that is all that counts.
Please stop discussing every little thing she does. Thank you.

Actually, in some of the pictures her arms seem to be in the sleeves, too. I think she looks great and the colour is simply gorgeous. It's nice to have some change after all the beige and navy which we (too) often see on the royal ladies. And even if it's winter outside, I guess the indoor temperatures in the Netherlands are still somewhere around +20 or +21C which (at least for me) is a summer temperature.

But I get your point 🙃

I love that color. Although I don't think short-sleeved dresses are suitable for winter wear. I love pumps, I have the same. Simple beautiful style.
I almost said - wonderful. But I made the mistake of looking at the detail of her face and noticing those huge earrings, hair, exaggerated makeup of her eyebrows and eyes.

I'll admit that I can't see that her eye make up is exaggerated - it looks perfectly normal to me. B

This looks completely rediculous considering the weather that we are currently experiencing. Besides that, a visit to a primaary school, seriously..... . why not a pair of elegant boots with a nice wintery dress? She looks really out of context most of the times these days, weird, bordering on the rediculous....

    1. I agree for a visit in a primary school, I would expect simple and confortable clothing, with sleeves preferably.

    2. Absolutely agree. I saw the headline of the visit, then saw the pictures and said to myself, "seriously?"

    3. But maybe this was just one of several official engagements she had on her list for the day. And maybe there wasn't enough time to do a change for a suitable outfit for each occasion. Maybe .... maybe ????
But I hope the kids knew it was the Queen of their country who'd come to visit them and not Little Red Riding Hood with the wicked wolf .

This seems a good opportunity to say farewell to the bleaching of the hair forever.
Look how dark she really is.
It’s a nice combination in splendid colour, but maybe not for a visit to a school.

Red is a Royal colour and the majority of the Royal ladies featured on these pages look very good when dressed in this colour, day time or evening, as is the case here.
Sleeveless, coat over shoulders, cold weather, open windows....I'm not fussed by it. As long as the wearer is comfortable and relaxed (Maxima seems to be) and the outfit is decent, I'm good with it. The colour adds unexpected visual warmth in my mind.

I generally don’t are much for Maxima’s fashion choices.... but I really like this ensamble, she looks fantastic, many times her use of gloves borders on ridiculous, but they looks so glamorous here, with a 50’s vibe. I would have gone for earrings without red, but I like the total effect.

  7. Lovely red dress and coat. much better in the photo where she is wearing it properly. I read recently that "shrobing" (even the word is awful) is back in fashion with celebrities so I guess we'll have to put up with it for a while. Agreeing with Lily T and Nalerina that the choice of a sleeveless dress is unexpected but she doesn't look cold in the photos. Like the shoes and the earrings.

Hair notwithstanding I think this is a lovely look. The colour looks great on her. As to the sleeves maybe she just doesn't particularly feel the cold - some people don't, me included. Although I am a handful of years older than Maxima. M

  9. Style starts with personal appearance. Hair is part of style, shows your care to self, and how you appear to the public. This woman shows no care for the hair, its bewildering. She uses large hats, over the top jewelry, strange outfits to distract from the apparent lack of taking care of the hair. If you have terrible hair, pop on a wig, would be so much better than this mess on your head. Hair - disaster. Makeup -over the top. Jewelry - over the top, ugly Christmas look, is just not appropriate for a school visit.

I started suspecting, some time ago, that most of the negative comments about Queen Máxima, are not genuine, but rather an orchestrated campaign against her; today’s comments are a perfect example.
The Queen is wearing a lovely, traditional outfit in a beautiful color. Her accessories are very well coordinated, yet some commenters insist on focusing on her hair, some criticize her earrings, which are barely visible.
I haven’t been able to find the source of this antagonism yet, but I will.

Today we were asked not to leave “anonymous” comments unless using our name in the post. ... Big deal!... All the naysayers have done is add an initial or two, or any name they choose, to their post. The negative comments about Queen Máxima have at times included insults and judgement on her character. That is unacceptable.

    1. I totally agree...Q.Maxima receives orchestrated negativity..She is a wonderful warm passionate woman, wife and mother and a modern royal lady..The today out fit is spectacular and very regal..I personally appreciate the fact that she has not done any aesthetic procedures like other royal ladies at her age..

Ana Maria: I am Dutch and I am not a fan of the fashion choices of Maxima. Nor do I like her public ‘spontaneous’ behaviour, that I consider being totally orchestrated and fake....... I have always commented signed with my name, which happens to be my real name as well.. What is your problem? If you cannot handle different opinions, a blog is not a good place for you.

..... trouble is that lots of Maxima fans defend her strange appearances with over the top praise such as ‘hard working’ ‘work ethics’ ‘lovely personality’ ‘intelligent’.......all qualities we do not know anything about...... stick to fashion and appearance, the only things we can opiniate from picures. And to be honest: the only job she has is: to look presentable, ask the questions that her staff have put together for her and be nice......

Yes, you are in so far right that her mosttimes unkempt presentation annoyes me, and I read here often that I am not the only one. It makes me more critical, I am aware of that, but in the end It is about fashion choices. NL

To Ana María: I am one of those who are critical of some (not all) of Maxima's outfits - especially her hair and accessories. I'm not a troll, I'm not organized in any group. I never evaluated her character, but always just fashion, image. I strongly oppose your absurd allegations.
I really don't understand the hypersensitivity of some people to any criticism of whatever opinion. I comment on what I see. I am a strong supporter of the right to freedom of expression so that everyone can say - I like this ... I don't like this, ..

Ana María, get off your high horse, how difficult is to understand that people are talking here about fashion, period, full stop, nobody on this thread is saying anything about her character, that is generally reserved for Meghan & Charlene. I made a comment about the earrings, not to say that they were bad or ugly, but stating that I would have chosen anything other than red since there is so much of it, and you must look at the pictures again, NO, they aren’t barely visible, they are large and possibly more adequate for a night event, if you disagree, that is fine, but you must reserve your your outrage for the occasion where there is actually anything offensive or insulting towards this woman, this is not the case.

Exactly, CB. If someone finds it unbearable to accept that people disagree, he/she would be better off not reading here. - I find Maxima's hair looks bad most of the time. The logic of a sleeveless dress and a coat eludes me, but that is my opinion. I don't like the earrings she's wearing, and would like to see her try button earrings for a change. I do not understand why she's wearing a mask in some pics but then again not in some other at the same event. - Ellie

Lovely dress and coat The beautiful red colour suits her. What I do not understand is always those gloves. Even when she was sitting with her sleeveless dress inside she is wearing them. Very old fashioned etiquette especially when you are visiting a school. TB

I don't know if it's orchestrated but there are certainly a lot of people in this blog that are enormously negative about Máxima. Of course you may be critical about her fashion but the chosen words are often not very constructive. Pls try to be a bit civilized. There are too many people nowadays who send anonymous hatemails to other people.
