She was born on January 31, 1820 in Ferrol. Thinker, journalist, poet and playwright, as well as a pioneer of feminism, she was the most important thinker of the 19th century Spain and a key figure in Spanish culture in the shaping of a liberal national consciousness. The exhibition organized by Acción Cultural Española and the National Library aims to highlight the life of Concepción Arenal for the Spanish people.

  1. Hey, same dress as the one of Maxima, fits her quite nicely.

  2. This time the lady in the yellow coat gets the highest number of points. Not only the cut and the color of the coat are chic, the dress together with the very matching scarf look casually elegant and also a bit arty. The flat shoes and that tasty bag round off the modern but not too youthful appearance.

    1. Honestly I am quite surprised by that choice, particularly regarding the shoes.

    2. I totally disagree. I think the coat is an unpleasant mustard colour, the outfit beneath is dull and the shoes are just ghastly. On the other hand, I think Letizia's dress is a gorgeous colour and very elegant along with her beautiful shoes. I'm not madly keen on boots in general, but I rather like the pale boots worn by the lady in the fringed dress.
This is why I love this blog, (when people aren't sniping at each other) Someone looks at an outfit and sees it as chic and elegant while others take the opposite view. And on some occasions, we all even agree.

Upper part of the dress looks very nice, but the lower part needs more curves. Even though Letizia really is very thin, she can normally avoid looking lank but here the skirt part underlines her missing curves. -Siri

I think if the dress were shorter, perhaps just barely past the knee, the overall look would be more balanced.

Once again, the dress looks like much better on Letizia than on the model - that is some achievement! Perfect dress colour for a winter day. Love her shoes, they are so versatile and suit many of her outfits. The coat is the least successful piece IMO, nothing wrong with it separately but somehow it doesn't work here, whether it is the length or because it is worn on the shoulders, it makes the look a bit clumsy. Way better when she took it off. I think the rich colour of the dress needed the coat to be in a lighter shade to create the right contrast for the dress to pop, maybe a dove grey or cream, even white, or a royal blue... It's not her best ever outfit but it gets a pass from me

The rich ruby tone of this dress is an excellent choice for a winter's day, The high shirt collar turned backwards provide closure at the back to an opening that flirts just a few inches of being dangerously low. The dress drapes well, and does not seem to have too much volume below the waist. A shorter length would have revealed more leg, as was seen in other pictures. The high ponytail and high heels serve to elongate the body.
The other lady who looks edgy and well put together in the picture is deputy Calvo. Those boots! July.

  7. I am so happy to see these shoes again. I love the color fade on them, such a subtle change but just gorgeous. The color on the dress is perfect for Letizia. I like it, and I like the longer skirt. Overall, a very polished look. Love the ponytail.

Sorry but not fan of this dress. I like its deep rich red color but high neck and long length do not look very good together, especially with those killer heels that make her tower over everyone else and those heels must be painful to walk (they look painful for me at least!). Like Siri said, she needs curves to pull off this dress. If the dress had been knee-length, then perhaps but now...no from me.
Also once again she wears her coat as a cape. Looks silly.

Very rarely does Letizia get it wrong ! She knows what looks good on her, and doesn't necessary go with the trend. In a few of the photos, it looks like the bottom half of the dress, swaps her petite frame, then in others, it seems to sit perfectly ! The colour is lovely. I'm not opposed to draping the coat over the shoulders, especially in this instance, as the coat is shorter in length than the dress. Her hair is on point. Ana
