  1. I don't like those trousers on Mathilde but it surprises me that I rather like combination with top on model.

    1. We just have to accept that she took some weight... like many other women. But if she likes wearing them, so far so good.

I also quite like the look on the model - top and trousers together. Smart and different. However that is definitely an outfit to be worn by a certain height and shape of body. That would not work on Mathilde. Even the trousers by themselves do not look that good on her. She has much better looking and fitting trousers that she has worn elsewhere.

Wow, those pants are quite wild. I am just glad she did not wear the blouse that the model is wearing. That combination hurts the eyes.

I would have preferred the other way around: the print fabric on top with plain dark trousers. I know these kind of print trousers are trendy at the moment but I never liked this trend, it screams pyjamas to me..... Now that I think of it, I do indeed have a pair of pyjamas very similar to Mathilde's outfit. Personally I would never go out in them, let alone in an official engagement, but I am me and she is her.... different people, different tastes...

  5. Not keen on patterned trousers generally but this is not too bad. Like the coat worn by the lady in the doorway.

  6. I really like the yellow coat of the lady standing next to her!

I think this looks rather good - if I were to be picky I would prefer a slightly longer top. Don't like the version on the model at all.

  8. Très joli ce modèle de pantalon imprimé mais je l'aurais bien vu sur Mathilde combiné à un léger haut comme sur le mannequin mais avec une petite encolure en V !

Hopefully those pants look better in person, but I kind of doubt it. They're quite dreadful. ~Laurel~

Super pants of top designer Dries van Noten. One of the few designers who is busy with sustainable collections. So good of Mathilde that she promotes this Belgian rdesigner

Patterned pants are a fashion perversion. Especially if the pattern is ornamental or psychedelic. My advice to Mathilde: throw away these patterned pants and all the others you have. Or donate them to the circus.

I quite like the silhouette; no belts, just a long lean look. Not looking at fabric, just at the silhouette.

  13. I actually kind of like this look on Mathilde. Yes, the pants are kind of wild, but with the simple blouse it works. Plus, the pants are in a classic, straight silhouette. Good for her trying something fun.

    1. Agree also.
I think she has made a good choice for the occasion even if there is a bit of a "fun" look about it. This is not a subject/occasion for a Queen to be too formally dressed. If I had to make the choice, I'd go as she did for the dark top with the flashy pants.

I am very impressed with commitments of Queen Mathilde of Belgium to fighting against poverty. I have been surprised to learn that many people are suffering poverty around the world despite many foods are wasted and thrown away.

Queen Mathilde is a Queen in the very best sense of ethic and work.
I like her look today, though it is not classy nor elegant, but smart-casual. But different prints on both trousers and top, like on the model is too much Maxima for me.

  15. I am surprised that I actually think she looks quite nice even if the top narrow at the shoulders and somewhat short is giving her a Coca-cola bottle shape. Trousers like that I would normally dislike but I think it all looks quite flattering and very casually elegant. The fact that the pattern is on the bottom and single colour on the top which one would think was the worst thing to do if you have narrow shoulders and wide hips gives it all an edgy but still classy look which I like better and better as I look at it.
