Norwegian Royal family visited Gjerdrum municipality in Akershus

On January 3, 2021, King Harald, Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon visited Gjerdrum municipality, Olavsgård Hotel and Clarion Gardermoen Hotels in connection with the landslide in Gjerdrum. The King, Queen and the Crown Prince met with evacuees and representatives of municipalities and emergency services who have worked continuously since the landslide occured.

King Harald and Queen Sonja also attended a memorial service at Gjerdrum church to commemorate the victims after the landslide in Ask. On December 30,a quick clay landslide occurred in the village of Ask within Gjerdum municipality. On January 3, 2021, it has been confirmed that seven people died due to the landslide. Three people are still missing. At least 1000 people were evacuated from the region.
