The Spanish royal family released their annual official christmas greeting card on 11 December 2020. Spanish Royal Family's Christmas card features a photo of Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía. The photo was taken during the royal family’s visit to the village of Somao, which was awarded the 2020 Princess of Asturias Exemplary Town of Asturias Award, back in October. Likewise, King Felipe’s parents, former King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía released their Christmas card, as well.

  3. Beautiful photo of two beautiful young ladies!

(I couldn’t be excited about the shapeless Springfield blazer on anyone, but Leonor’s lovely face actually makes fashion irrelevant here 🙂.)

  7. Interesting that they all had to add a line under their signature, as to emphasize themselves...

  9. @11:13 A woman needs more than beauty and a man on her arm to validate her in the 21st century. A well rounded education and professional specialty will be more useful. ...and really, they are a little young to speculate about who their husbands will be. What if they choose not to marry? July.

  10. Heck, I used to wonder who Prince Carl Philip would marry, and I'm already wondering who Prince George will marry 😂. I'm sure that to some that makes me a fool, but it certainly isn't sexist, and neither is it sexist to wonder who a princess might marry. Back when royal alliances were still important, speculation about who might end up being a royal consort was not in the least frivolous. These days, it just means you're a hopeless romantic 😍.

As for a professional specialty being useful, well...it would definitely be useful if monarchy were abolished. Otherwise, surely it depends on whether a given individual is fascinated by a particular subject and desires to pursue a professional specialty in it because he or she would find that personally gratifying. Princess Raiyah of Jordan would be one example of this. There is no shame, on the other hand, in devoting one's efforts to the nurturing of a loving family and service to one's country, rather than pursuit of a professional career.

  11. @Jane: Time marches on. Many monarchies were abolished after the world wars. Nothing is certain. Still, it's creepy to be romantic about husbands for 13 year old girls. Marriages are not only about big weddings. July

    1. Oh don't exaggerate! It's not creepy. For goodness sake.

  12. Oh well. You are entitled to your view, July. And we are all aware that nothing is certain. As for “creepy”, it is rather creepy that you seem to find something sinister about innocent thoughts as to who someone might marry _some day_.
