Princess Kako, the younger daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, turns 26 today. Princess Kako has been spending much of her time at her residence in Tokyo and she performed her official duties online during the coronavirus pandemic. The Imperial Household Agency released a series of photos on the occasion of the birthday.

Most of the photos show Princess Kako with her elder sister Princess Mako. The photos were taken on December 4, 2020 at Akasaka Imperial Estate in Tokyo. After she graduated from The International Christian University in Tokyo in March last year, Princess Kako has devoted herself to official duties as an adult member of the Japanese Imperial Family.

In September, Princess Kako viewed an online sign language contest for high school students in Tottori Prefecture, western Japan, and greeted participants in a video message. Although Princess Kako performed most of her duties from home, on November 6, Princess Kako and her elder sister Princess Mako visited the Meiji Jingu shrine in Tokyo, which celebrated its 100th establishment anniversary.

  2. The birthday girl looks so good in mint.

Dear Princess Kako, if you're reading this, please wear more pastels.

  3. Whether you personally like it or not, you can't deny these overcoats are refreshing. I prefer defined waist though for myself. These princesses can pull off those straight silhouette outfits with no problem. But I think Mako is better at straight silhouette because she has broader shoulder than Kako.

  4. They are such nice looking young women with their open, gentle smiles. I like both outfits very much. They are flattering and somehow youthful too (V.M.)

    1. 100% agreed Chel.
Love the softness, colour and simplicity of their winter wardrobe.
      Happy Birthday Princess Kako.
Question? is the marriage of her sister, Princess Mako, going ahead?

  6. They both look good. They both have gorgeous, welcoming smiles. I feel like Princess Mako's is slightly more impish. The outfits are a little more modern than what they usually wear. The muted tones look great with their skin coloring.

  8. They both look adorable -- but coat-wise, I prefer Kako's sans-lapels look.

    1. If I had to make a choice, I'd go for the coat with the lapels.
They play a big part in keeping you snug and warm when the wind is blowing.
