  1. While it is a nice family photo, I cannot escape saying how boring and dreary the colours and outfits are. Even if they had stood in front of some wallpaper, or a coloured background it would have allowed their plain, monochromatic style to pop out a bit. Also the arrangement if the family members is so unimaginative. First Charles and Camilla's awful photo and now this one. I wonder what else is yet to come.
But I still wish this lovely family a Happy Christmas.

    1. It is very conservative.

    2. Anon9:13 - I assume you're looking for a "pop of color"? The king is wearing a nice blue tie. But there is just no pleasing some people. I don't have to be bedazzled all the time; I think they look quite nice, it's a lovely family photo. And there's nothing wrong with the Cornwalls' photo of them sitting in their color-popping garden. ~Laurel~

    3. I agree. I don't really like their classic outfits in black and white and the grey background of the photo. But it's a lovely happy family.

    4. I disagree anon12:13, this sort of very simple but at the same time strong color contrast is very in. I like it.

    5. @Laurel: "..I assume you are looking for a pop of colour?...Kings tie" You assume wrong. Read my comment again. I wasn't looking for a pop of colour. I said that a coloured background would have made their black and white ensembles stand out (pop out) more. They are a fine family and that pleases me plenty FYI.
"Cornwalls photo of them sitting in their colour-popping photo.." Sorry. Even by amateur standards there are so many things odd about that photo but I won't discuss them here. Considering they are two of the highest profiled Royals, I expected better, but I'm glad if you liked it. Everyone has different standards of perfection.

    6. Anon9:13 - "Perfection"? That's stretching it. It's a nice casual photo of Charles & Camilla sitting in their flowery garden. Maybe when he becomes King Charles III his Christmas card will be of him & Camilla sitting on thrones in their full regalia. Anyway, you guys go into convulsions if someone's dark outfit doesn't have that colorful "pop". But whatever. Tschüs! ~Laurel~

  5. Very photogenic family. Neutral black/white ensembles accented by the King's tie, nice. Understated and elegant composition.

  7. Beautiful picture. A happy equilibrated royal family and not boring at all ! During the pandemic they have a responsable behaviour from day 1 on and we cannot say that about many others except Felipe and Letzizia perhaps. I'm proud of "my" royal family.

    1. I agree! I think the King and Queen of Belgium seem to have a happy marriage and their children are precious. They're so talented! Princess Eleanor plays the violin, Prince Emmanuel plays the saxophone, Prince Gabriel is a talented football player, and Princess Elisabeth is an excellent student just to mention a few things. You are very lucky that they're your royal family! And their photo is very excellent, the kind that will stand the test of time.

  8. The text on the card says: "On the eve of this special Christmas season ..." and I think they do this "boring" simplicity on purpose. (-Ann.)

      Totally agreed.
They are being discreet and respectful given the hardship all the world is experienci g.
It is not a happy Christmas this time, it should be a period of praying for a resolution to human pains.
There is no room for luxury exbition, sobriety should be the keyword.

  10. Très belle famille dans un style classique que j'aurais bien vue avec des couleurs ; seule la cravate du roi apporte une touche lumineuse à la photo - Joyeux Noël à eux tous !

  11. Wonderful picture of this royal family. The composition is perfect in my opinion. The contrasting black and white is reserved but classy. As mentioned above, King Philippe's blue tie is a perfect counterpoint, and draws the eye to him. Very nice.
