Queen Letizia of Spain attended the 32nd edition of the "Rey Jaime I Prizes" (King Jaime I Awards) at Market of the Merchants in Valencia and presented the awards in six categories to the winners. Usually, both King Felipe and Queen Letizia both preside over this award ceremony, but the King is currently kept under isolation due to his contact with a Covid positive person.

The awards were created in 1989 by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Valencian Foundation of Advanced Studies with the objective of bringing together, in studies and research, scientific and business entities, and thus promoting research and scientific development in Spain. Afterwards, The Queen received representatives from Municipal Police of Valencia.

  2. Letizia has great legs and her hair have grown so long. Its great to see this coat and dress again. I love the colors.
I don't care for her new way to wear the coat (coat on the shoulders, sleeves uselessly hanging). Wearing your coat over your shoulders like a cape is a growing trend but it does not look right nor comfortable. Choose a cape instead!

    1. Absolutely agree with you both about that the outfit is great and that the coat on shoulders thing is a distraction. Even the model is doing it!

  3. oh! I guess we just have to forget about the hemline... I think we have seen this outfit earlier, quite appropriate.

  7. Even the model wears the coat as a cape. I don't understand this trend. What's the point? That said, the lilac color is nice and the dress and coat are very pretty and well tailored. Apparently, the skirt of the dress is lined (at least partially) with the trim fabric, which is obviously stiff, and at some point the hem was bent upward revealing the lining. At first I thought was part of the design but in subsequent pictures the hem was flat.

  8. I love the outfit, but sleeveless looks a little odd when we’re moving into December (not that I blame Letizia for being proud of her toned arms!). Just about any kind of sleeve would look great on this cute dress.

We have snowy days, Spain is a sunshine country. This is a rare miss for me.

December in Valencia, they have 18C in the afternoon. You probably would wear shorts and a t-shirt.

  9. This outfit is from 2016 and almost the 6th time she has worn it. She has been repeating all her clothes lately.

  11. This outfit is always a winner. The matching shoes and purse are great complements.
Proof that clean lines and quality fabrics can give a fresh look for years.
She may have gone the cape route a little too much lately, but this is not really a trend. The outfit is 3 yrs old. The model 'doing' it posed for this advert. at least 4 years ago, and over time we have seen the other Queens go from car to building in the same style. MB

Jaw dropping. Polished to perfection. This is a superb look, the fabric and tailoring of the dress and coat are impeccable. Feminine and structured at the same time.

I agree with 2:33. Caping a coat is not a trend. It has been done for decades. Princess Grace did it from the 50s. Princess Diana and Crown Princess Mary are two others who come to mind.

  15. Oh, I'm so happy to see this again, such a beautiful look. I love the colors of this outfit. I do agree with these comments about wearing the coat, either put the arms in the coat or have it made into an actual cape.
But otherwise, this is one of my favorites of Letizia's.

Simple, timeless and elegant look from Queen Letizia with a hint of girlishness.
I really like the way lilac and grey are put together. These shades look fresh and good together. Also like her simple hairstyle (her hair have grown so long!).
But I'm also not fond of this coat-on-the-shoulders look. Unless you have trouble lifting your hands, please use sleeves.

She is there in lieu of the king, now in quarantine. He is never considered overdressed in his expensive suits, shoes and ties.

Well, I would I would like some people to understand that we don't all agree and like the same things. The world is big and diverse and people have different opinions. People can be worldly and well-traveled with eyes wide open - and still dislike coats as capes.

@9:38 I think more often than not, what we get here are people that struggle with anything that is outside the box. Anything considered a little trendy or different meets with resistance. Many of the comments about coats over the shoulders are from people that think it is something new and trendy. Quite the contrary, it has been done for decades.

Fashion dictum does not restrict everyone to wearing clothes only in a single approved manner. If that were true many creative designers would be out of work.
Chanel suits with frayed edges would be considered unfinished for example.
Her preferences should also be taken into account, as well as the culture of her country, and the seasonal temperature for that day. Obviously this is one of the looks CH intended, based in the way it is styled.

I have seen Melania Trump wearing the coat over the shoulders many times too.

Maxima is another one that does it.
