Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary today. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Palace released a new photo of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The photo was taken by Christopher Jackson in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle earlier this week.

The photo was also released on the official Twitter account of The Queen and The Prince. The caption is as the following: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh look at an anniversary card made by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside other cards and letters sent by well-wishers to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary tomorrow." A closer look at the card reveals a colorful “73” on the front. It is also decorated with a number of polka dots. That can also be seen in other cards and letters sent by well-wishers.

Elizabeth and Philip got married in Westminster Abbey in London on November 20, 1947, just two years after the end of the Second World War.

  1. I love that she kept the brooch all these years. Prince Phillip looks in good health and younger than the queen.

i hope they reach 80th Wedding Anniversary, he would be 106 and her 102

    1. If perhaps like me you are finding spare time due to the "lockdown", take a look at the family history of Prince Philippe of Greece and Denmark.
A remarkable mother who finished her life as a nun and a controversial father who died in modest circumstances in a hotel in Monaco.
Key words via Google will present the material for some good and informative reading.
p.s. Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philippe.
May there still be many more wedding anniversaries to celebrate.

  4. Wow, "73 years" is usually Happy Birthday, not Happy Anniversary. Good for Elizabeth & Philip - what a life they've had together. ~Laurel~

  5. Very nice couple. They remind me so much of my grandparents - in appearance, age and fulfillment of duties. It is a generation that has fought for freedom and prosperity at the cost of great sacrifices.
Prince Philip is a true "man." For me, number one among men in the royal family.

  6. My country is a republic and there are not any noble aristokratic titles in my country, but I have great respect for Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II. and HRH Prince Philip. They represent the United Kingdom really very well.
    Happy anniversary!

  13. They have been blessed with not only long lives, but a long life together. They remind me of both sets of my grandparents, sadly my grandfathers both passed on (my maternal grandfather at 100 years in 2015, and my paternal grandfather at 105 years in 2018), so I only have my grand mothers left who both turned 100 this year.
And what I've learned is even with the advanced years my grandmothers both just referred to my grandfathers as the "boy" they fell in love with all those decades ago. Love is a beautiful thing to watch, especially a long love.

May her majesty and his royal highness have many more years together.

    Tala
