On November 4, 2020, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Hospital (OLV) in Aalst to support the healthcare workers who care for patients with covid-19. The OLV Hospital is located across three campuses (Aalst, Ninove and Asse). The main campus is located in the city of Aalst between Ghent and Brussels. Afterwards, the King and Queen visited Algemeen Stedelijk Hospital (ASZ) in Aalst. During both visits, they are informed of the measures taken by hospital administrators to free up capacity for Covid-19 patients

Me too. At first the jacket felt a bit too 1970’s - in a Florence Henderson/Mrs. Brady kind of way- but some of those bright 70’s patterns are very nice. The beautiful blue she’s wearing helps tone it down a bit too.

It’s a lot of colour, but the simple silhouette of the individual pieces keeps the outfit from looking garish. I think she looks lovely. (V.M.)

The blue color doesn't go well with that patterned coat (in my opinion). The pattern reminds me of my grandmother's night robe.

  5. Très chic dans cette tenue dont la tunique déjà portée ; est-ce une collerette autour de son cou de la même couleur bleue ?!

    Hair is great.
    Top is interesting.
Pants are too wide in the leg.

This is how Mathilde should wear pants. There is no emphasis on her waist. We just see beautiful slim legs, and her small shoulders. The rest is behind the coat, and the illusion is that her body matches the shoulders and legs. While I would rather she not belt her top, it is not terrible in this case. The self-belt is barely noticeable, and we only get a glimpse of what is behind the coat, which is a slim blue column. Her coat could have less of a swing and might look even better.

    1. Absolutely agree. Love the swing coat and the way the blue of the pattern is picked up by the outfit underneath. Great look.

This outfit is a miss for me. The short swinging coat looks like a maternity coat and the pattern looks like a South American native handwoven blanket. The bright colors do not complement the blue pants and top. Plus I don't care for this particular strong shade of royal blue, it doesn't help anyone's complexion. Not very many people can get away with wearing it, the Duchess of Cambridge, maybe even Maxima because she would accessorize. Definitely does not suit Mathilde. I wish she would try something different with her hair before she's much older and gets stuck with a hairstyle forever, like Queen Sofia, or Queen Margarethe, or Princess Anne all seem to be stuck. Mathilde would look cute with shorter bangs, or soft curls, or...

I agree with many of your points. The tone of the blue is not the best. The tone is darker in the earlier pictures, and lighter in the last. If it is the darker tone, it's not as bad. The lighter royal blue tone is not a color I like for pants. They look a little cheap and remind me of polyester pants of the 70s. Also, I don't think this color is the best choice for her, but adding the topper helps greatly. I could not agree more about her hair. I know she does get compliments on her hair here, but I think it could be so much better. It is boring and safe. Her hair style is aging her and a good hairstylist could give her a fresh look that is still appropriate.

Didn't she wear this outfit not long ago at occasion with her eldest daughter and everyone raved about it?
