Crown Princess Victoria, Daniel and Estelle visited the statue of Kristina Gyllenstierna

Earlier this week, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Stockholm Bloodbath, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle visited the statue of Kristina Gyllenstierna on the Stockholm Royal Palace's outer court yard. During the visit, Princess Estelle received information about Kristina Gyllenstierna and the Stockholm Bloodbath. The Stockholm Bloodbath was a trial that led to a series of executions in Stockholm between 7 and 9 November 1520.

Kristina Nilsdotter Gyllenstierna of Fogelvik, who lived between 1494 and 1559, was a Swedish noblewoman. She led the Swedish resistance against Christian II of Denmark, who in Sweden is called "the Tyrant", after the death of her husband. In her own lifetime, she was simply referred to as Fru Kristina ('Lady Kristina'), but she is known in history as "Kristina Gyllenstierna" because of the house of nobility to which she belonged. The statue of Kristina Gyllenstierna on the Royal Palace's outer court yard was made by Theodor Lundberg in 1912.
