Princess Sofia met with Caroline Engvall and Teija Bervokk from Safe Selfie Academy at Stockholm Royal Palace. Safe Selfie Academy educates students and staff in schools about online safety of children and young people. The meeting was held by the Princess to receive more information on the academy's work. Safe Selfie Academy is a platform about online vulnerability with involuntary image and film distribution on the internet.

Caroline Engvall is a journalist, lecturer and author who has written several crime novels in Swedish. She runs several projects that help children who are exposed to online crimes, including the publication of educational materials, help websites, podcasts and television documentaries.

You don't see any Swede in a mask. It's not recommended here. Quite the opposite in fact. The fear is that a mask make people feel safe and make them forget to keep their distance. Also, mostly people don't know how to handle masks, taking them on and off, fiddle with them and sometimes putting them under their chin when not needed as I've seen K Filipe do.

From Joann. Sofia seems to have adapted well to public life. I always admire these princesses who come from non-royal or non-aristocratic backgrounds who can adapt to the royal life. I'm thinking of Maxima who had to transition from a Spanish background and Mary of Denmark who came from Australia. They had to change cultures, were far from their families and had to learn difficult languages. They are making it all look so easy, but I'm sure they have their days.........

She has nothing to learn from Queen Letizia. She just needs to follow the recommendations of her country. In Sweden masks are not part of the strategy.

I just read an article today that said the public health officials in Sweden think a herd immunity approach is the best way to handle the virus. I have no idea if this is true, but does go on to say that they encouraged healthy young adults to contract the virus to build up the herd immunity. Of course the problem is that it spreads to the older, at risk population. There have been no shut downs, daycare closures, masks, etc. According to the article, but not the government, this approach has been a failure. Their transmission rates are much higher than neighboring countries. Sweden sees their strategy as a success. As I said, I do not know what is true, but I do find it uncomfortable to see groups of people unmasked. I am afraid it is just a matter of time before we lose one of these people to COVID and irresponsible actions.

@ Haga, you are correct that Sweden hasn’t mandated mask use, and therefore she won’t wear one. Your comment about masks being unsafe is scientifically incorrect, they are worn to protect others and even if people touch them they will still prevent the spread of the virus to a degree, combined with social distancing and good hygiene it’s proven to be the best tool we have now. Sweden has decided to go for herd immunity and weighed out the benefit of 2-3% of their older and or compromised population dying from the virus, in order to achieve immunity for the rest ( as of now, we don’t know if such immunity is long lasting) . This same approach would be mass murder on a population such of the US, Mexico, India etc.,. There would be millions of deaths . Each country has to do whatever they can to contain the spread until therapeutic drugs or a vaccine is found to be effective.

There is reasonable scientific evidence to suggest mask wearing is a sensible precaution. However, just because Sofia is not wearing a mask does not mean the Swedish have decided to be irresponsible - social distancing, some limited numbers in public spaces and good hygiene are still recommended.

The Swedish health authority is not going for herd immunity, that's a myth. We have lots of restrictions in place just like all other countries, but we're not required to wear masks. The jury is still out on the benefit of wearing them. Scientific reports are not unanimous on the subject.
Anyway, I was just answering the person who attacked Sofia for not doing what nobody is doing in Sweden.

From Joann: I agree with Sandra F. The mask is really all we have until some medicines or vaccines become available. I think we all owe it to each other to be safe. And, at the moment, I can't think of anything better than the mask. There is still so much not known about this virus. Conflicting information exists about how long the virus lingers in the air; how far it travels and how long is actually lives.

Haga, respectfully, the jury is not still out. The jury came back, delivered its verdict based on the months of evidence gathered by nations all over the world, the case was closed, and they all went home - masked. Some countries or regions of countries may choose to react differently. We have already seen these regions that are not adhering to more rigorous standards have higher infection rates, more hospitalizations, and more deaths. Living in a country that has a mix of reactions from the most rigid to the most lax, all politically motivated, I can tell you that I am the most comfortable with masking, social distancing, and constant handwashing. We must wear masks and social distance at the same time where I live, not one or the other. Most people carry hand sanitizer with them or keep it in their cars. Where I live, we have been slower to reopen the economy, and have done so with many more restrictions than seen in other parts of the country. This has worked well, as our infection rate has gone from one of the highest in the nation at greater than 10-11% positivity rate, to less than 3% positivity rate and still heading down, with the occasional bump. I live in one of the most populous areas, yet the more sparsely populated areas of the country are spiking because politics dictate a different direction in handling the virus. I am not interested in contracting the virus, and I certainly refuse to sacrifice my 85-year-old mother for the goal of herd immunity.

@ Haga, the jury is not out concerning the benefit of masks in spreading any infectious disease, medical & scientific journals, as well reputable universities all agree, this is a fact. Please get your information from reputable sources, for your own good don't believe the charlatans, and most of all don't repeat such misinformation. I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that if not for masks and protective equipment I could very well be dead today. Yes, people can absolutely be infected even the most disciplined, firstly because nothing will protect you a đź’Ż, and secondly because people will remove their masks while eating, drinking, and in small family gatherings in enclosed spaces.
Please stay safe, and take care of yourself and your families.

As Haga is trying to tell you: If you want to wear a mask in Sweden it's ok but that's not what the authorities order you to do.

In France, Spain and Britain you are wearing masks. Better statisctics there?

Princess Sofia is 36. Queen Margarethe is 80. Why don't you complain about her meeting the Swiss Foreign Minister yesterday. No masks at all.

So everybody's wearing masks. What happens to these supposed Covid viruses? Where do they go? We're told masks stop them. So obviously they remain in your masks. You exhale, your mask stops them; somebody else exhales, their/your mask stops them. Now you're wearing a dirty mask. Are you able to wash these viruses out of your cloth masks? Right on the boxes of disposable masks it says that they are not recommended for stopping this Covid.

They want to make healthy people sick by wearing masks. We need fresh air. We need to see people's lovely faces and smiles. They have taken this away by forcing the mask issue over an illness with a 99% recovery rate in all ages. Sick people should stay home; healthy asymptomatic folks should be out-and-about mask-free. We will soon see where all this is heading, and it's not good. It's about controlling people.

Walking around in a virus-laden mask is not healthy, nor is inhaling your exhaled carbon dioxide.

From Joann: I don't know about Denmark but here in the U.S. , the President and (in my state) the governor and senators do not receive people for any kind of encounter until they have had a virus test. So my guess is both the Queen Margarethe and the Foreign Minister were both tested. Also, the room they are in looks to be a large one with air flow and they look to be about 3 feet apart. I imagine the advisors on both sides felt it was safe, particularly because of the Queen's age. Also the photo was a snapshot in the time used to take that photo. They probably were seated across the room from each other during the meeting. World leaders often do not wear masks for those photos for obvious reasons. These photos are released to the public and they want the public to see what they are doing and who they are with. The governor in my state came to our town for an opening of a building. On the evening news, I saw a clip of it .The governor was not wearing a mask when he posed for a photo with some dignitary, but then put in on as he was exiting the stage to talk to people.

Respectfully, if you feel compelled to speak about statistics in other countries, you must inform yourself and understand the numbers, when scientists publish the metrics of an infection, all things are taking into account, population, number of test, number of positive results among the tested, population’s age, etc., .
As an example, as of now Sweden has tested about 19% of its population, versus 30% in Spain and 50% in the UK, and although we are seeing an uptick in positive cases, this was expected as quarantines were lifted, is evident that most contagions are happening in the younger population who many refuse to wear masks regardless of the rules, and continue to get together with friends and sometimes bring it home to their families. Also family events such as weddings, birthdays etc., continue to be a problem. Is a fact that if everybody wore masks indoors while gathering in public, and kept a safe distance outdoors, we could avoid millions of new cases.
This is not demagoguery, is called science.
Sorry for the length of my comment, I feel that it’s important to stop the dissemination of dangerous and misinformed data.

Laurel, since you only post misinformation, and you keep doing it, you need to stop. You are not better educated than the top scientists and medical professionals around the world. Unless you can prove me wrong by providing your CV so we can check up on you, and then recommend you as an advisor to the WHO and all other leading health organizations around the world, kindly keep your self serving opinions to private. If this was Twitter or Facebook, your comments would be deleted for spreading misinformation. Regarding the President, the White House would not have been a super spreader if that was accurate. Several governors have contracted the virus as well. It depends on the state and if it has a Republican or Democrat in office. On my local news, those types of events don't have people removing masks for photo ops if at close range to other people. It really depends where you are in the country. Testing and taking temperatures has increased tremendously, which is very good.

Perhaps you can ask the thousands of surgeons, nurses and healthcare workers that have been wearing g masks for more than a century, how come they are still alive? But as I said the people coming up on stage to be near the governor for the photo, had to be tested beforehand. Also the testing is problematic. And there is no way for certain anyone can tell how a "super spreader" event occurred. These people are all living outside the event area. They have homes, families, interact with the public. And when the enter the event, they get a temperature check and test of some kind. (Maybe one of those "quickie" ones). As far as I know, those who were to come in contact with the President or other dignitaries had to have a test. I'm not sure which test they use for those. ( i imagine Queen Margrethe probably is being monitored constantly as is the Prime Minister, probably twice a day. ) At the White House event, the remaining audience, I heard, it was voluntary. I'm not sure about that part. But , that's the problem with this virus. Any event, be it a family reunion, a private dinner party, anytime anyone enters a person"s "bubble" they can be bringing the virus and not know it.. As I said, many people are testing negative, but that doesn't mean they can't be shedding the virus. Their viral load may not be big enough to register on a test, but there is enough there to shed. At least that is how I understand it. That is why the virus is popping up in events where people were tested before they entered. "Asymptomatic carriers may be more than previously imagined and they may be responsible for viral shedding and disease transmission." I found this article to be very informative. I can't vouch for its accuracy, but it's worth checking it out. As I said in another post, there is much we don't know and more information is coming out daily. I am not trying to pass myself off as some sort of expert. And I appreciate your input. I'm trying to learn. But all I have to go on is one certainty amid all the chaos and conflicting views. And that is the virus enters the body mainly through the mouth and nose. So it's up to each individual to digest that information and decide how they can avoid the virus.. (It can enter through the eyes, but I haven't heard how common that is.) I am a worrier by nature, so I would rather err on the side of caution, i.e., I will continue to wear a mask. and avoid those who are not wearing one. The quotation I cited came from this link:

I shopped today maskless... it was glorious. Keep on wearing your germ-trapped you-know-whats.

I'm done expounding about masks and this Covid that has overtaken people's lives and somehow managed to exterminate every other fatal disease on the planet. Everybody seems to die from - not with - Covid.

Anyway, Covid is a means to a hellish agenda and will be linked to climate change and a fake day of rest to "save the planet". Yes, you heard it here first. The truth will come out. Apologies will be accepted. I'm done. Thanks.

To get back to FASHION because most of us come here to escape all things COVID-19 related, Sofia looks wonderful. I hate the tight pants the royal ladies wear sometimes. This is much better. She looks lovely. And I am sure she gets lots of guidance and advice on whether or not to wear her mask at the engagements that she attends. I think the mask regulations differ depending on the country. And I am sure all royals follow the health protocols. Meg
