Princess Mako, the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, turned 29 on Friday. This year, Princess Mako did not visit any rural events. As her first public outing in eight months, she visited an exhibition and attended an award ceremony in September. The Imperial Household Agency published a series of photos on the occasion of that birthday. The photos were taken on October 3, 2020 in Akasaka Imperial Estate in Tokyo.Happy birthday to you, Princess Mako.

  3. Lovely sisters. So nice to see them in a casual, relaxed atmosphere (even though some of it is obviously staged for the benefit of the photographer) and dressed less formally than we otherwise see them.
Rather than comment on the fashion - which looks perfectible fine for two young ladies - the biggest take-away for me from these images is that in their own private time, this family and likely all members of the JRF, have their own say in their dress style and what they wear. Yes we may 'know' it, but it's nice to see it , as an expression of their personalities and individuality.

  5. Seeing the princesses like this makes me wish they were allowed to choose their own clothes when they make official appearances. From the setting they are in (which is very beautiful), to what they wear, the family has such complete control. They look very nice in these photos and I am sure they would still make their family and the country proud if they dressed in a more contemporary way.

  8. Beautiful sisters! A very good example of how a dark monochromatic look could make someone slimmer and taller. However if I were her stylist I would add a cardigan of a lighter color to make a vertical line on the center to make her appear even more taller. The princess sister almost stole the spotlight with her skirts and brilliant smiles. The photo of them holding the camera is the best.

  9. Totally agree that they both are beautiful young ladies. But looking at these pictures give me the impression that there is a kind of melancholy or even sadness about Mako. I can't explain why and I hope it is only my impression.

    1. Wasn't she engaged to be married to a handsome young man, which seems to have dissolved? Or am I thinking of someone else?

    2. This is my impression ever since her engagement was postponed or called off. I feel terribly sorry for her. Not being allowed to marry the one you love, whatever the reasons may be, must truly be unbearable...
I can't say anything about fashion here, no matter the blog, as this issue comes to my mind whenever I see pictures of her.
