On September 18, Princess Marie of Denmark opened the exhibition "The Golden Age of Danish Painting" (L'Ă‚ge d'or de la peinture danoise) at the Petit Palais in Paris, France. At the exhibition “The Golden Age of Danish Painting”, more than 200 works by Denmark's leading artists in the period from 1801 to 1864 are being displayed.

The exhibition is organized jointly by the Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) in Copenhagen and the Nationalmuseum of Stockholm. Inspired by new forms of architecture that emerged after the Copenhagen fire of 1795, between 1800-1864, Danish painting entered its golden age as artists started painting scenes from everyday life in greater detail than ever before. 1.

From Joann: Nice to see her out and about after all her family problems. I'm referring to her husband, Prince Joachim 's hospitalization, etc. By the way, it's being reported that he is back at work. Apparently a photo of him on an Instagram account is available. I think the Danish royals put it out. Anyway, he looks very well. Wonderful to see him. As for Marie, I have to say I like the dress well enough, but not for this outing. I think it stands out too much in a museum that is supposed to showcase all the artwork behind her.

    1. I agree that Princess Marie's dress detracts from the artwork. Not a good dress for this event.

    2. Yes I have seen the picture of Joachim back at work, good for him. Nice to see Marie, I see no real reasons to be critical about her dress. It fits her well enough, it is a sort of optimistic dress, I understand she wanted to wear it.

  6. Usually Princess Marie is very chic but I think this dress misses the mark. I don't like the narrow white belt and the flounces allied to the large pattern overwhelm her petite frame. I also think the dress is just on the short side to look elegant. A rare miss for me.

Marie has a nice summer tan. Her hair and make-up are fine. The dress is pretty but the fit seems off.

  8. Disappointing. Both the pattern and the design just miss.

  9. I'm very conflicted on this dress. The colors are great. I think it's the ruffle that is throwing it off for me, if it was taken off it would be much better. Her accessories, hair and makeup all look great.

  10. The waist of the dress seems to be too high.... and it does not show her figure to advantage. This is a shame because she is a lovely woman doing a good job.

  11. I think the dress is very pretty, and not too youthful for Marie thanks to the skirt hitting right at mid-knee (any shorter, and it would have a teenage vibe). That luscious red and white print is great on Marie, and I don't think the ruffles are overdone. However, I think the waistband detracts from the look -- imo it looks as though it was made for a different dress.

  12. The Pss looks lovely, I am so glad her husband is doing so well now and back at work, according to his Instagram account, marvellous. I am not a fan of this dress, the print and dress seems a tad ill fitting.

This dress is a no for me. The first thing that bothered me was the ribbon at the waist. I thought it was something she had added herself until I saw the photo with the model. It really looks like an 'I want to add a belt so I will throw on this scrap of ribbon' afterthought. It also looks like it is placed too high, so it is not accentuating her small waist, but making her look bigger than she is. I think the ruffles are too much with the size of the print, making a lot going on for the eyes. While I like the color of her shoes, I think a nude shoe would have been much better. Her hair and makeup are on point, and she is as beautiful as ever.

Lovely to see Princess Marie, after what must have been a difficult summer for her and the family. The dress sadly, is not a favourite. It's too busy a pattern and too many ruffles. I have always thought, Marie would be better suited to Letizia style. They are a similar size and height. I don't imagine, Marie's clothing budget in comparison to other royal ladies, is vast, so she better served, investing in more classical style, or high street fashion (Hugo Boss, and Zara) Ana

If anyone can carry off wearing a dress like this, it's Marie. She has worn it before and maybe she wanted to pay tribute to the colours of the Danish flag. She seems sweet and warm and not like she tries really hard to be the 'perfect' princess.

    2. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to care about a lot of things...
Clothing is one thing, but she is looking like the women next door, sometimes very nice - but that´s it!!
Through the last many many years she and her husband have been working les and les, they don´t take part in celebrations within the family + each year we see them cancel the traditional summer holiday at GrĂ¥sten Castle.
They both have lost their Royal Household years ago and I really can´t remember when they spent time together with the Crown Prince family?!
      - I´m talking in private... Yes, Crown Prince Frederik visited his brother at Chateau Cayx when Prince Joachim was out of the hospital, but beside that visit - I don´t know...

Perhaps she is happy in Paris, as a housewife?? She is french after all...
      - But many danes do not understand the couple, the Queen is getting old, Princess Benedikte is up there too and the Crown Prince couple are working very hard. But the team, as we saw with then Princess Alexandra and Prince Joachim + the Cp couple is no more!

    3. Carl, the relationship between members of a family is private business, no matter whether royal or not. But maintaining a good relationship within a royal family is even more difficult, there can be many reasons for that.

Carl : I don't know if you know the Royal Family personally but I think none of us do. Denmark is the small fairy tale country with the oldest monarchy in the world. However, the country is not big enough for the two prince families. Marie said in an interview this summer that 'We don't always make the decisions'. So, there is more to it than meets the eye. A lot of people buy the concept that Marie and Joachim just enjoy life while the hard working crown prince couple carries the whole burden. This is exactly what the media and perhaps the court wants the picture to look like. Frederik and Mary will be king and queen and are marketed as such. Joachim and Marie only play minor roles. There have been articles in Danish media during the years that Marie must not outshine Mary, and the same applies to Joachim. He is not to interfere in any tasks that Frederik should master. And regarding your comment about Alexandra and Joachim being a team with Mary and Frederik back then, excuse me but Joachim's divorce came only a couple of months after Frederik and Mary's wedding, so what team are you talking about?
