That dress would suit a visit to a military base not for this ocassion

No, it wouldn't. On that occasion she would wear a formal outfit or if in a military capacity full uniform. This is a perfectly ordinary piece of high street fashion - it's a pattern, just like khaki, or florals, or animal print

Although I detest the use of military camouflage design for normal clothes, the dress is flattering on her.
She stays so relaxed 100% herself, impressive.

She looks great. Love the dress. It has been nice to see her dedication over the past few months.

For goodness sake. It covers her, it isn't immodest, it isn't insulting. Not inappropriate at all - what you mean is you don't like it.

      It's a fashion item.

Tout à fait d'accord ; de plus très ""tendance". Je m'étonne de tous ces cris d'orfraie à propos de cette robe.

Why? That would be weird. It isn't uniform. It's a dress designed with camouflage material. It isn't actually designed in order to carry out full military manoeuvres.

  8. I think the same as Iris, it is not an appropiate dress for such a visit.

No? People love to throw the word inappropriate around but fail to explain what would be appropriate. It's for a charity with a phone line for children in difficult situations - perhaps just a pair of jeans and a tabard would do.

Fantastic! Sophie is on trend! I get so accustomed to her dressing older than her age that I don't pay as much attention to her as I really should. The cut is flattering and fits, and the exaggerated camo is in style. She looks her age and is fabulous. I am hoping the dress is not too long as she has a tendency to do, and I would have liked her hair to have more style than just a clip, but it is just a minor issue.

I love this outfit. The Countess looks relaxed and happily engaging with those around her. She has done brilliantly during the pandemic. She is a great inspiration, her work ethic is marvellous.

I mean, sure, a camouflage print is ok, but really, why? Not that she doesn’t have dozens of other dresses in her wardrobes perfectly appropriate and more fun for a children’s charity. Unless they had a hide-and-seek game afterwards, it’s a puzzling choice. Whatever floats her boat, I guess. CH

  12. Oh dear, apparently we have to tiptoe around the subject of camouflage print now. Give me strength...

Oh dear - we have to refrain from disagreeing with other posters in case they can't cope.

How about people make their point and explain themselves clearly? Even if that just involves saying I don't like camouflage used in fashion rather than claiming things are "inappropriate" without saying what they mean by that.

An awful lot of experts on royal protocol here - with very little idea about fashion as well.

Jane and Anon 1:44, you both said it so clearly. For a fashion blog, there are a lot of people posting their opinions that don't know the first thing about fashion. The only thing they have to support their baseless statements are to claim a breech of royal etiquette. The words "protocol" and "inappropriate" are thrown around with such certainty one would think they just had tea with the Queen last week.

Oh well. I guess it's all part of life's rich tapestry (there are probably moments that shouldn't be worn either). 😊
