The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have formally received French President Emmanuel Macron at Clarence House. President Macron is the first foreign dignitary to visit the UK since the coronavirus lockdown began. Today marks the 80th anniversary of General de Gaulle’s ‘Appeal’ to the French population to resist the German occupation of France during WWII.

The Appeal of 18 June was the speech made by Charles de Gaulle to the French in 1940 and broadcast in London by the BBC. It called for the Free French Forces to fight against German occupation. The appeal is often considered to be the origin of the French Resistance in World War II.

ردحذفAside from the center seam on the back of his jacket looking puckered, the medals look like they are contributing to the problem with the front of the jacket. He usually does a better job with his medals. It is a sloppy appearance indeed.

It does seem to me that Prince Charles' hair has all of a sudden gone nearly completely white, which gives him an elderly appearance.

حذفHis hair, in particular, looks odd - very white and unnatural for him. Of course we all are ageing, but these photos look strange, compared to photos I saw of them just a few days ago. I think it's the lighting or harsh sunlight that is the reason.

I have been 29 for so many years they could teach a college course on that math. My kids have been older than me for years. In other words, it is just a number.

ردحذفThink the very pale tie plus the French medal make Prince Charles look strange here. It's as if he's wearing a pullover under his jacket which would certainly be ageing. On his mother's side, Prince Charles belongs to a family with hair which whitens at a relatively young age--think of the Queen and Queen Mother at that age. On his father's side both Prince Philip and his father Prince Andrew were pretty much bald from early middle age, a genetic inheritance for the Earl of Wessex and Prince William (who looks more like his uncle than his father) Duchess of Cornwall looks extremely smart in navy and white
