Queen Mathilde gave an interview on the cultural sector to Vrt Nws

The Queen Elisabeth Competition, which was planned to be held in May this year, could not take place. The 2020 Piano Competition is postponed to May 2021. This postponement will of course have consequences for the other disciplines, all of which have been moved forward by one year: the cello session, that was scheduled for 2021, will take place in 2022, the voice competition in 2023, and the violin session in 2024.

Queen Mathilde gave an interview to VRT NWS, which is about that negative impact of the corona crisis on the cultural sector. The Queen said that cultural events bring together people and that these events currently get big harm due to the corona crisis. The Queen invited everybody to give virtual support to the cultural sector.

The Queen spoke as the following: "For many of you, a month of May without the Queen Elisabeth Competition will leave a certain void. Therefore we invite you to a virtual rendezvous on Queen Elisabeth Competition Home' multimedia page.

Queen Mathilde is much into art. In the interview, the Queen said that she wants to learn more about art, that all of her children plays an instrument (Crown Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel piano, Prince Emmanuel saxophone and Princess Eleonore violin)and that she receives courses about opera.

Délicieuse Mathilde sur cette photo . Les couleurs très douces lui vont à merveille ; j'aime bien les boucles d'oreilles pendantes en forme d'étoiles !

I am very impressed with commitments of Belgian Royal Family to promoting love and appreciation of classic music. Japanese Imperial Family Members also play instruments as well.

She is one inspiring queen. Not the only one, but right at the top of my list. CH
