Queen Margrethe attended a memorial ceremony at Ryvangen Memorial Park

On May 4, 2020, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark attended a memorial ceremony at Ryvangen Memorial Park (Mindelunden) in Hellerup, north of Copenhagen, held in honor of the fallen resisters of World War II.

On May 4, 1945, Denmark was liberated from German occupation of five years. On the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Denmark, Queen Margrethe and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen placed wreaths for the Danes who lost their lives for Denmark during the occupation.

In addition, like all Danes, the Royal family lit their candles at 8pm, the exact time that the Germans surrendered. Danes continue the tradition of lighting candles in their windows on every May 4 as a reminder of the five years when Danish cities spent their nights in total darkness.

    1. Yes, a good choice of colour. She wears the colour well and it makes a dramatic impact on the overall scene. I prefer it to the "sadness" of a black outfit. May this memory be respected for many, many more years to come.

    I think she chose to wear red because the colors of the Danish flag are red and white!

  7. I agree that the red outfit of the Q. is life n respect as well. I like the candles in the candles in the windows. Learn something new!
