  4. Oh?! What a surprise at New my Royals! Baby clothes adorable! Every proud mother dresses her child appropriately for this occasion and when it is second hand or borrowed. They don't want to be royal either, whether this spread will ever help the child? Happy Birthday little Archie! -Dorothe-

    4. Just what was the point of your comment, Dorothe? This is not a first birthday celebration video. It is a video of a mom reading a story to her son for the "Save With Stories" campaign. The release of the video just happened to be on Archie's birthday. Did you even read what is posted above by Helen before making uninformed comments, or do you just to look at this as an opportunity to bash Meghan? Archie looks like an everyday little boy. How wonderful! Thank you to Harry and Meghan for participating in this campaign and sharing little Archie with us. Happy Birthday, little one.

    5. Hey Dorothe and the other hater, did you forget the world is going through Covid?? I think it makes sense to dress him like many other parents would, low key for an awareness video. Way to be jerks and hate on a baby.

    6. IMO Dorothe is in a way right. If it is not a b-day video then don't publish on the exact day. If it is a B-day video I think the same- whether it is quarantine or not you should dress appropiately. Maybe her comment is harsh but in a way makes sense. Otherwise Archie is lovely. Considering Harry and Meghan I can't help comparison them with Wallis and Edward- hope better end.

  5. Just LOVE this!
Happy birthday to this adorable little boy. Both he and his mum are looking great, and it's so nice to hear the proud and happy chuckles of his father who is filming this. It's lovely to see him wanting to turn the pages, just like any toddler his age does.
I think Meghan got the right balance of managing his activity and reading an unusual story aimed at an older age range for her charity, which is what this video is about. It is such a 'feel good' video.
Very best wishes to all three of them!

  7. There is interaction between Meghan and gorgeous Archie on the one hand and between Meghan and the camera on the other. This latter one is something that has nothing to do with Archie and his birthday. And I miss Harry in this birthday video. - As for "baby fashion", of course Archie does not have to wear something rigid or traditional. But maybe he should wear something comfortable that might be called clothing. Not necessarily a onesie on his very first birthday, presenting him to the world. (Ann.-)

    2. This video is not about Archie's birthday.
It is a video for "Save The Children" charity project called 'Save With Stories', which is why she is looking into the camera - to engage other kids who will watch it online whenever they want. It was only posted today to commemorate his birthday, not as a video about his birthday.

    3. First off, this is sooooo cute, happy birthday . In my humble opinion, and because this is more than sharing Archie's birthday, it is only appropriate that you show a regular child, wearing regular clothing, with mom on casual attire , when you are trying to shed light on the precarious situation of many children, if he was dressed as a little Royal, it would appear rather disconnected.

    3. Agree. Also think he could have been better dressed. I get that he is comfortable and the video is probably just one of many they have taken but the onesy is very babyish for a one year old. Its there choice to dress him like that but a simple pair of shorts would have made him look like a one year old. He is cute though.

  16. I see Archie looking like Harry and Mr Markle with that nose and eyes. It would be nicer if they let him wear a short rather than just a diaper.
He has very long limbs and torso.

  20. Archie looks a lot like Meghan's father, he has the Markle's nose. He also resembles his dad. I agree he and his mom look well and happy but they both could have worn something other than a diaper and short shorts.

  21. So many inconsistencies. They say they want their son to grow up as a private citizen, but let him take part in a public-relation-video for an organization. And why don't they put him trousers on - do they want to appear as a normal family? They are no normal family in their mansion and with the ( british) money in the background.

    1. Millions of private citizens take part in public related events around the globe, especially these kinds involving charities and children. It doesn't change their status at all. Perhaps you were expecting them to raise him as a shut-in? I'm guessing from your comment that it's been a very long time since you raised a toddler, but this is how normal families today dress their toddlers at home. Not all of them, nor all the time of course, but billions of them do and it's perfectly fine. It doesn't depend on whether they live in a shack or a castle either.

  22. Well, Archie is really cute. Meghan also looks very good, but also, when she's no senior royal anymore, her shorts are an 'not really appropriate' to me.

Meghan is selling the book (for a good thing) in this video, I see her more as an actor and just a bit as a mom in this vid.

  23. The timing of the release of this video has lead to confusion. If Meghan were truly reading to Archie, she should have chosen a much more age appropriate book. He really wasn't engaged at all. Books at that age with pictures, sounds and materials of different textures are much better received by very young children. Harry and Meghan seem to want to play it both ways - on one hand "protect their child from the public", and then on the other, use him in a video that is extremely widely circulated. The advice is already been given to them by Her Majesty that they cannot be half in and half out. With respect to Archie's dress. It could have gone up a notch or two. He is not really going to thank them for that video when he is older. Finally, Meghan seemed to be taking this as another opportunity to be promoting herself. An engaged Archie with a better choice of book would have delivered the message about getting children to read, which is after all why the video was made wasn't it?

    2. Have you noted that they are new parents that are going through their apprentership stage. Can't begin to tell you all the mistakes we made with our first son but our second and third sons had model parents, thanks to the training we had with our first baby. Please give them a break and a chance to find their way as a newly married couple with a young baby.
They must win the prize for the most criticised newly married couple on earth.

    3. I don't understand why everyone must love this woman or if they don't are some evil hater? Not everyone likes everyone. I personally agree that the video was awkward, sending mixed messages. That doesn't mean I wish any of them ill will, or hate them. But I do think there's one thing most people can agree on, that baby is absolutely adorable!

  26. As far as Meghan is concerned, I realize that is better not to address the malicious, judgmental comments, or even try to reason with people when they make totally fabricated statements about what they are thinking, what they are feeling and all the imaginary situations. The bitter and unhappy have found their target!!
I find this video charming, just the kind that any parents would do, not professional , just a normal vignette of their lives. Meghan is patient, and very loving, trying to redirect his attention :-) well done, and thank you for sharing these lovely images.

  28. He is a beautiful baby who looks like he is read to regularly. The book looks chewed at both edges so he must have held it before. @Margaret. The object of reading to them is to teach them to pay attention and learn the differences in the sound of each word. He arrived knowing nothing, and has to learn the language to communicate. Keeping him at one level with cloth picture books will not expand his knowledge at a time when the brain is like a sponge. Interesting articles on the couple in the Washington Post.

  29. Happy Birthday to big/little Archie!

Like someone mentioned above, this is a lovely vignette, indeed.

I fondly remember reading to my multilingual nieces and nephew at this age and older, often above their level for language enrichment. It was that funny stage of child development where it feels like one is holding onto jiggling jello! My little ones also wore onesies which can't be beat for comfort and sporty style at that age. Meghan's casual style is nice as well.
