Queen Maxima contacted with staff and guests of NoiZ shelter

On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 14, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands made a video call to speak with staff at NoiZ shelter in Utrecht. The Queen received information about the situation of caregivers, and of guests staying at the homeless shelter during this period of Covid-19 pandemic. Before the start of the corona pandemic, the shelter was providing service as a night shelter, however, after the start of the pandemic, it became a 24-hour shelter for homeless people.

‘NoiZ’ means night shelter under self-management in Dutch and it was established 25 years ago by people who were homeless themselves. Homeless people still bear the daily responsibility of the shelter’s organization. People who need to stay at the shelter contact with the caregivers because they know that the caregivers lived on the street too. In a sense, the caregivers are a kind of a role model.

It is wonderful that social distancing is being respected and this cause is being exposed to the public, but why use this picture? Belle

Very simply because the media will ALWAYS use an image that will provoke a reaction - sometimes positive (oohs and ahhhs) but usually negative (critical). Look at the images of Meghan and others that are always selected. That's how the media exists nowadays to gain attention. By creating a buzz and provoking reactions. The days of being only an information delivery service are long gone.

  2. Ces photos n'avantagent Maxima mais peut-être qu'elle est fatiguée.. Elle s'investit quand-même par vidéo !

Indeed she looks tired, but the background does not convey an image of a designated workspace. The other royals use wider angle photos for a better effect. B.

It's not a photo. It is one frame out of over 10,000 that made up the video chat that you can see she is having with the other person. Or may be you don't know these things, and believe everything the media wants to show you to control you. Perhaps you should watch the full video instead of basing your criticisms on one second of it.

She must be extreme healthy or lucky, not to have gotten sick.

She is the epitome of overacting..... I cannot warm to that. She lays it on too thick....

  6. This picture looks like she just rolled out of bed. Seriously, this is such an unfortunate picture. She is trying to do some good during this difficult time, and this is awful.

She may be using drama as she sometimes does but she doesn't have to go to this extreme and look like a "wreck" to get her message across. We know she cares but come on girl use a brush!!! I sometimes wonder if she didn't really aspire to be an actress....

Haha, gives a completely new meaning to “drama queen” but a very suitable one as far as M is concerned.....

  9. How absolutely marvellous that this shelter after the pandemic started has become a 24 hour shelter. A safe place for the homeless especially now with the pandemic. The Caregivers do such a wonderful job, I am so glad this is being highlighted.

A really important cause, indeed, bur sadly there are still people who focus on trivial things and seem to enjoy criticizing everything. It must be a sad life for them.
