King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited RIVM in Bilthoven

On April 3, 2020, Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander visited the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), in the context of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Bilthoven. The King and Queen attended a meeting with Jaap van Dissel, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Control. 1. I was completely unawhare that summer had hit the Netherlands! I do not understand this sleeveless dress when it did not get above 10 degrees today here. I did not like this dress and coat the first time around and I do not like it any more now. I think King Willem-Alexander looks really good. He seems to have slimmed down and now that he can not get his hair cut ( we have to keep 1,5 metre apart) it looks very debonair.

    1. I think she was wearing the sleeveless dress indoors :) Outside she seems well wrapped up in the big coat. Like other posters, I just do not like this outfit--it's the combination of patterns more than anything else--if the dress were plain and the coat checked or even vice versa, I could live with it.

Sa Majesté est parue superbement Bottée de cuir. Bravo Vôtre Majesté !

This is such a strange combination: a woolen tweed dress without sleeves.
The top suits her very well, but the skirt and coat, no, not very attractive.
I understood it was a short visit: well done.

Sorry to say, the hair looks horrible, yet again. I had to look carefully to see what she was dragging on the ground in the 5th photo. Must have been the belt from the coat. Sad to say, this should not be happening in this day/time, and she should know better than to wear clothing that will drag/fall.

Agree in most details, but in this times you can not find a hairdresser, they are all closed.

True but I saw footage of the visit, her hair is clean and shiny even. I think it's a wrong colour and style. She has very thin hair, like Jennifer Aniston for example. She should get a more flattering haircut and the right tools to style it. Maybe just get another hairdresser.

Agree on the comment above that the king looks debonair (I had to look up that word).

    3. Maxima's hair! No alternative to accepting that she likes this hairstyle as "day occasion" style. If she feels comfortable with that, so far so good. Anyway today she was totally dressed in an unconvential style.

Here we are wearing this combo again. I for some reason can't warm up to it, well she must like it. I think WA and Maxima are the only Royals now who to make these kind of visits. in person. Either they are immune to this virus, or they are tempting faith. Hope they stay healthy and the people around them too.

  6. I don't care for anything about this look. The heavy wool look without sleeves looks awkward, with the knee high boots (need to be higher, like thigh high boots). And for goodness sake, the hair. I don't even know why I'm mentioning. I really think a good hair cut would do her a lot of favors if she isn't going to brush and style it well.

  7. I love this outfit. As I get older, I get hot very quickly so I often wear sleeveless shirts underneath my sweaters, even in winter here in Wisconsin! Maybe Q Max gets hot quickly too.

As for her hair it looks clean, at least. Unless she asked her hairstylist to live with them and quarantine in their home I don’t see how she could have it professionally styled for this meeting and still socially distanced herself.

I have loved this outfit before and continue to love it! A brilliant combination of fabrics and a great length! And having said that, the logic of the outfit still eludes me, as it did before, and as others say, WHY have a woolen winter dress SLEEVELESS? I like the look of the ensemble, but it's crazy. It makes no sense at all. - Maxima's hair is the same; it makes no sense to me that she will not have it tidied up. Perhaps it's an intentional look, but to me it looks messy. - Ellie

I did not like the outfit the first time not now.
But just to answer many of your questions I wear sleeves dresses all winter long. And I did the same when living in The Netherlands for almost a decade. So I do understand the choice just don't like the pattern, fabric and shape of the dress

  10. I love this outfit. I am also one that gets hot very quickly and for this reason I dress exactly the same way. Maybe the Queen feels comfortable like this, who knows. It is marvellous they are both keeping abreast of this serious situation. The Queen has done marvellously, great effort.

  11. Je n'aime que la robe asymétrique avec ses superbes bottes.. Pas fan du manteau ; heureusement que Maxima est grande !
