The King and Queen of Belgium organized the annual spring concert

On March 5, 2020, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium organized the annual spring concert at Brussels Royal Palace. This year's concert was dedicated to the 60th birthday of the King. In addition, the concert was organized in honor of persons who have accompanied the King during his school years, academic and military training and who have assisted him in performing his duties as the Crown Prince and the King. (The Queen wore a gown by Erdem.)

  1. Oh, Mathilde, no! This looks exactly like the dressing gown (housecoat as they were called in the 60s) that my mother used to wear when I was a small girl. The over fussy pattern, the ruffles, the high neck--so many things nit working for me. Looking for a positive, I love the earrings!

The dress looks like a nighty;it would have been nicer if it was a floral blouse and a black skirt with a broad sash at the waist.Queen Mathilde is so pretty.

    1. Yes, the changes you suggest would have made this a stunning evening look!

I agree. It needed something around the waist. But the Queen is so attractive, she can get away with these missteps.

    3. No, no, no, too much fabric. Could be superb as explained by Anonymous March 6 / 2:25pm

  4. I prefer the dress this time than on earlier occasion, maybe hairstyle fits better; but still ...not my favorite

  5. I've been reading this blog long enough to recognize Erdem even before I read the caption. My friends marvel at my fashion savvy! Anyway, I generally do not Erdem dresses on anyone....the hems alone are not very attractive. The Queen pulls it off as well as she can.

    1. Couldn't agree more. Erdem is as bad as Natan.

The dress is horrible. Mathilde is a naturally beautiful woman. I wish she would dress in a bit more modern style.

    1. Oh non! Perso, je dĂ©teste ce genre de robe. Celle- ci n’est pas particulièrement flatteuse pour la reine!

  8. This Dress would be fine minus the ruffled Hem, or as a Blouse, but this full length gown drowns the lovely Queen in fabric, it's just too much, too much of this busy pink pattern.

First thought: She's wearing her nightgown. Maybe in person this looked nice, but in photo's it does not come across very well. The high waistline does not do her any favors, makes her appear thick around the middle. The earrings are lovely, as is the Queen.... JT

  10. There is a french word, that can be formed with the same letters of the word erdem placed in another order, that comes to mind when one sees a dress so fussy, unflattering and cutesy like this. An it's surely very expensive.

She stays beautifull, even in this awfull dress.
Put it in the wardrobe until you are 80 years old, your majesty!

Don't care much for this dress.Nice to see Prince Laurent with the Royal couple.

  15. The Queen looks good in the rose color. It would have been bvetter to have lost the bottom ruffle and kept the skit smooth. But the best idea would have been as suggested above: pair that as a blouse with black skirt.

  16. I like the color, fabric, the neckline, even, but that large ruffle. Please go away! Join hands with see-through legs and walk into the sunset.

Floral - like animal print can easily be overdone. A good 20% less outfits centering on these prints needs to be worn by the royal ladies. There are other fabrics. Use florals more sparingly. They are beginning to look - might be there already - saccharine.

Queen Mathilde looks stunning. Lovely full length soft fabric dress with a beautiful color. Hair , makeup and earrings are perfect.

  18. I think the Queen is wearing this gown as best she can. To cut off the bottom half and replace it with a plan colour I think would serve it much better. Love her choice of drop earrings, they are stunning. Her hair and makeup look lovely.

  19. This could be a beautiful blouse but neck-to-toes floral is too much. Way too much.

Mathilde's hair looks good and her earrings are very pretty. There is nothing I care for regarding this dress.
