Queen Mathilde encourages young people to read more

In these times of confinement caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Queen Mathilde wanted to encourage young Belgians to take advantage of this free time to read more. To do so, the Queen shot a video in a living room of the royal castle of Laeken. In the video, the Queen reads an extract from the work of Marie Colot, called "Jusqu’ici tout va bien". This novel recently won the Victor Prize for Children's Books.

  3. Nice initiative. I don't like the color of her jumper, if I dare I would say I hate it.

  5. You're very brave, MaryT! 😁

I'd classify Mathilde's top as neon yellow, and as such it may elicit both strong positive and strong negative reactions. I'm not a fan of bright saturated colors, and neons take saturation to an extra level, so...but in the current situation I guess there's something to be said for wearing cheerful colors even if they're a little tough on the eyes 😎

  8. Excellent idea. Just a pity that all libraries have had to close "for the duration"... I have never really enjoyed reading on a tablet but times they are achanging, and we might have to do so.

  11. What a sensational idea and initiative. Great work from the Queen. We all should read more. The Queen couldn't have picked a better colour to brighten the day, she looks fantastic, when there is so much doom and gloom currently in the world, this was a breath of fresh air. Well done.
