Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia visited ICA Kvantum Värtan

This morning, before all other customers arrive, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden visited Ica Kvantum in Värtahamnen. Like many other grocery stores, the store is only open between 07.00-08.00 o'clock for those people who are in the risk group. The old people are at risk and many important efforts are being made in Sweden to protect them from being infected by Covid-19. The Prince and Princess made the visit to greet the elderly from a reasonable distance.

Nice yellow coat. Nice gesture in these trying times.

I like her coat a lot. Nothing like a brightly colored coat on a cold day.

Now having said that, and knowing that this blog is only supposed to be about fashion, I have to say I don’t think this was the best or wises thing for Phil & Soph to be doing. If you really want to lead by example, STAY HOME! If you just have to get the work out about something (in this case, promoting the hours for seniors to shop at the grocery) do a television Public Service Announcements (PSA). Getting dressed up and going out to greet the seniors? NO!! I don’t care if it is from a distance, just, NO!!!

I work in health care (a provider network administrator for a health insurance company) and I was telling someone that, while I hate to say it out loud and tempt the universe, I truly am beginning to believe that a couple of REALLY FAMOUS people *and* a couple of really close love ones of every person are going to have to die before people get it through their heads the seriousness of this virus and the proactive precautions that every person – including royalty – has to take. And that’s just so sad and unnecessary.

I agree with you Europa! At any other time, this would be a nice gesture, but not in this moment.

      👍

Dear Europa, completely agree that I like her coat and its bright yellow colour is delightful. I also COMPLETELY agree with you about the rest of your post, too! Everybody, stay at home! :) - Ellie

I don't get it. Why is it so hard for them to cancel all photocalls and just STAY AT HOME? Yes your subjects need you, but can't you just opt for other options to show your support in this critical moment?

    7. We can read that Sweden has so far less strict rules in relation with the pandemia. Mistake from authorities?? They are in a different situation regarding space and number of citizens. We will find out... in the future!

We Swedes rely on common sence and follow instructions from authorities about social distancing and handwash etc.
But thank godness we are free to move outdoors. Sweden is also a big country so not so crowded as many others
We try to support local companies so they survive during this financial crise, as it is too.

In Norway they have now very high fees and even prison for those who don't follow their rules! Has created very tragic situations where norwegian citizens can't come to Sweden for a last farewell to their parent, for example.
It's taking it a bit too far in my opinion.
The majority is gonna get it and get mild symptoms...

Nice gesture! It's their local grocery store (and mine, incidentally). Lovely coat too boot.

  5. Well done again to this pair for showing their support. I'm sure it gave the workers and the people out buying their food a real boost.

  6. I love this bright yellow coat, it looks warm and snug. Well done for them showing support but I am not sure it is wise, such a lovely gesture, but everyone needs to stay home.
