It's just not a good dress.

  2. My goodness, Maxima, this isn't the Rio carneval or a tango club, it's a state visit, and to a predominantly muslim country no less, and you are there attending the formal arrival ceremony as the queen of your country, followed by a business meeting. I'm puzzled.

    1. You make a very good point. Keeping the upper arms covered is basic feminine modesty in most, if not all, Islamic countries and this conspicuously “cold shoulder” dress is a surprisingly tone-deaf choice.

  3. The ultimate cold shoulder Dress! I really thought I like this dress, until I saw the lower down sleeves.
Never a fan of this style, I must say never the less, Queen Maxima looks good. It anyone, she can carry it off.
I like the length of the dress, it's perfect.
I won't critic her hair, as it is a very windy day in Jakarta.

This "cold shoulder" style of shirts is just awful. It is as if there was just not enough fabric to make the entire sleeve. I will be so glad when they trend is out! To make it worse, Maxima added two-toned ruffles to the openings. It is a shame because the rest of the dress fits her well and she looks nice in this color.

It would be a great dress, very nice navy color, but the whole ruffle and cold shoulder part is too much, not a great look.

  10. Not a fan of this dress. But I love her earrings.

  11. Not seen Queen max for a while. I've missed her. Lovely colour. length and fit of dress, but the fussy "cold shoulder" sleeves spoil the overall look, as many others have said.Looking forward to more outfits from this visit.

Oh horrors, not that dress for a State Visit. It's awful by itself and even for tooling around The Netherlands; but for an official visit... just NO. I do like the navy blue with the white trim. But why a wool dress in Indonesia. And why a dress with a big gap in half of the sleeves in a more modest country. ~Laurel~

With such hair her daughters are going to school, but not you, Y.M. On a state visit!
The dress is nice for a party on the Argentinian beach.
I fear she will never understand that sometimes you have to ajust!

Warum holt sie dieses Kleid wieder aus dem Schrank? Noch dazu zum Auftakt eines Staatsbesuchs. Unverständlich.

Wenn sie es tragen möchte, ist es besser für eine informelle Party geeignet.

Actually I love this, and the shell earrings are perfect accessories. I’m sure she was advised about the suitability of the open shoulders, so I will avoid that topic. These kind of visits are planned down to the last detail. (V.M.)

  17. Welcome to my country. Shell earing is refer to Keong Mas (Gold Shell), one on symbol of Jakarta

What was she thinking? State visit, mostly Muslim population, and she wears something one might wear to a casual party? .... JT
