Self-isolation and social distancing can pose huge challenges to our mental health — in recent weeks The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been in regular contact with organisations and patronages to understand the issues they are facing during this difficult time. Last week, by means of telephone, The Duke talked to Mind charity CEO Paul Farmer, and The Duchess talked to Catherine Roche, CEO of Place2be. Both charities are foundations of which the respective royal is a patron.

They need to be seen now and I like how KP is acting in accordance with that. This is a way to keep monarchy going.

We live in a softened generation. I believe tough times great stronger minds.
But on them to be doing something they believe in.

    1. Staying at home and preventing the further spread of COVID-19, especially to more vulnerable populations, is not the mark of a softened generation. We need to stay home to less the load on hospitals and healthcare workers who are sacrificing their own lives to save others.

A great reminder and initiative for all. As this situation continues, we need to be more creative to meet the social and mental needs of ourselves and others. We “invited by video” my in-laws to dinner Friday. It was fun telling the kids Grandpop & Grandmom we’re coming to dinner. We had the dining room ready like we do when they usually come over. My husband, myself and our kids had dinner at our own house while my husband’s parents had dinner at theirs but we connected using Skype. It was a lot of fun and felt more like dinner together.

While I understand the decades-long rationale of reversing photos for page appeal, I think it's ridiculous in this case, because the Duchess writes with her right hand. I still love her suit, though. ~Laurel~

    1. I'm thinking the reversal may be because she and William are actually using the same desk. The room she's in is unquestionably their sitting room. The sofa cushions are the same as those photos when they entertained the Obamas. It's unlikely they would have two writing tables in their sitting room. His could be taken in a different room but perhaps the reversal is to make the desk look different. Very odd.

Interesting because they met the Obamas at Kensington Palace and it says these are from Amber Hall. Maybe they moved the sofa or have 2 of the same.

why do you think the photo is reversed? she has a pen on the left hand (as suggested by her rings). she is indeed right-handed but holding the pen on the left hand doesn't necessarily mean that she was actually writing with it, I think she was just fiddling with the pen, like many of us would do when speaking on the phone. having said that, I also agree that the photo is too staged, I am even thinking that she was not even speaking on the phone for real at that moment. I don't question that she did indeed call her charity but not at the moment depicted on the photo. this was clearly taken on the day they visited the NHS call center and they decided to release after they had the actual calls to illustrate it... On the other hand, they just made one phone call each, hmm...

  8. This is terrific. Great to see them both utilising their skills and keeping the lines of communication open to charities and organisations. Keeping in contact and morale boosting, all of which are vitally important. Well done.

It's so staged. A bit over the top. Frieda

    2. I would rather see a "staged" photo than nothing at all. The Cambridges have shown their care and concern through their good works.

    3. PB Coleman, agreed. It's nice they are releasing something. I enjoy royal pics, and if this is what we get in times like this, it is certainly better than nothing!

  12. Frieda, I totally agree. Cosy clothes woul'd have been so much better, like Sofia and Carl Philip had. This does not look natural at all.

    1. I think they took these pics on the same day they went to their engagement at the dispatch office. They are only releasing it now.

I don't believe Prince William is earnestly taking this pandemic seriously after he was caught on video speculating that it was media hype and making jokes about potentially spreading during his Irish Tour. It left a bad taste in my mouth especially since his father caught it (and thankfully recovered). Prince William showed that he us unable to think about others such as those especially vulnerable to COVID-19 when he makes jokes like that. Not a good look.
