Queen Sofia handed out Inigo Alvarez de Toledo 2019 awards

On February 25, Queen Sofia attended the 'Inigo Alvarez de Toledo' awards ceremony held at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. The Queen chaired the meeting of the Fundación Renal Board of Trustees and presented a total of 20 awards for work in three classes of research: basic, clinical and nephrology nursing. These awards have been held for over thirty years and aim to promote kidney research in Spain.

  1. Pretty! Pink is a lovely color on Queen Sofia -- I hope we will see her in this, and other shades of pink, more often.

Rosé is just made for Sofia.I love the collar, but her skirt could have been a tiny bit longer.
Most beautiful: her war and natural smile.

Can someone enlighten me on why the former King and Queen of Spain are still styled King and Queen? I find it odd.

The title is only honorific, in fact they are the Emérito King and the Emérita Queen. However now the have a prince rank.

    3. I think it is the same in Belgium. it is only in the Netherlands that Queen Beatrix reverted to the title Princess. I always think of her as Queen Beatrix anyway. Queen Sofia looks great here. Lovely colour for her and the jacket is great.

  7. Très joli rose-pastel dans ce tailleur-jupe que la reine porte avec élégance ; j'aime beaucoup le détail du revers de sa veste !

This pink is very becoming colour on Queen Sofia, but the suit is too big, it's not fitting well. -Siri

  9. This is very lovely suit, much in line with her usual style, the color however seems like a little departure, and I think it favors her complexion, the tailoring is not great, the sleeves are too big for her, as well as the collar area, and the skirt would look so much better if it was just a bit longer. It looks like she has lightened her hair a bit, and it looks very good. I only wish that she would leave some of the trinkets in her jewelry box :-) they are a distraction and only make the suit look a little gaudy, but it’s her style and obviously she loves it, so ....
