The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited projects in Bradford

On January 15, 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited a number of projects in Bradford, which promote cohesion within one of the UK’s most diverse cities. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began the day at the City Hall, and there, they received information about life in Bradford from a group of young people and met with representatives from local businesses that are helping young people into employment. (The Duchess of Cambridge wore a new print dress by Zara.)

The Duke and Duchess then visited one of the city’s Khidmat Centres, which focus on helping the most vulnerable members of the community. As a final engagement, the Duke and Duchess joined a workshop run by Near Neighbours, an organisation that helps people in diverse communities to get to know each other better, build relationships of trust and improve their neighbourhoods.

  1. I’m trying to get used to the center bow at the neck, which is clearly becoming a “thing” fashion-wise — we see it on Victoria lately too — but for some of us who remember it from years ago, it is a fussy, matronly look that tends to age any woman who is not yet elderly. Other than that, I like Catherine’s plaid dress and also the smartly-tailored green coat dress (or is it just a coat?). She is slender enough to wear pocket-like detailing on the bodice which on a fuller figure might be unbecoming.

  2. This shade of green looks very good on her!

This type of dresses are becoming one of her regular styles lately. They suit her well with the long coats.

I like photo where William is giving her flowers. You can see the chemistry even without showing affection in public

Great to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge getting on with things. This is a fantastic cause that they are promoting.

    In fashion:
I love the Duchess' coat, but don't quite like the dress underneath.

Love the coat - stunning. Lukewarm on the dress - never been a fan of those bows. And think the earrings just look cheap and once she takes the coat off they clash with the dress. I will never understand why she doesn't accessorize better with her jewelry. There are some beautiful diamond and emerald earrings that Diana wore at times - pull them out of the vault! DMP

  7. I believe the coat is new too. Alexander McQueen. Impeccable tailoring.

At first I thought her Zara dress was another iteration of the Alessandra Rich but then I realized it was a Zara dress I actually saw in store. The style is really up the DoC's alley.

I appreciate the black pumps. The block heel makes it easier for walking and the color ties the dress underneath the coat into the outfit.

One of the DoC's more formulaic looks but she looks warm!

  8. Lovely to see the footage of the Duke and Duchess out and about meeting ordinary people and looking as if they are enjoying it.Love the dress and like the coat but the coat in particular is a little long for my taste, though I accept that on a January day ion Yorkshire you will need all the warmth you can muster. Just hope that Catherine does not head down the same route as the Countess of Wessex with everything ankle grazing. The green earrings, which I think she wore on the Pakistan tour last year, are lovely. Just brightened my day to see the two of then at work as normal after the last turbulent week.

Long hanging hair & long bows again when around food. Should they really be behind the counter? And just how thin is she to have had a dress on underneath that slim-fitting coat, wow. However, she does look good; nice to see both of them out again. ~Rose~

  12. -I think Kate did some fashion diplomacy for today's visit. I just learn that many people in Bradford are from Pakistan. Kate wore earnings from a Pakistan designer and she first wore these earrings on the Pakistan Tour last October. She wore a green McQueen coat since of the colors on the Pakistan's flag is green. I believe she wore the $15 Zara dress so that focus can stay on the community and their projects.

    - William and Kate did such an amazing job today on this visit. I'm so looking forward to seeing them host the Africa Summit Reception at Buckingham Palace next Monday!

The coat is nice, good colour. But that dress is really unlucky choice, nothing for the young lady like Kate. -Siri

  15. Firstly: How lovely to see how she is enjoying herself, having fun, showing genuine interest and warmth.
Secondly: I'm not a fan of the dress and for my taste, the coat is too long. She has a beautiful figure and is tall, but this length does nothing for her. The colour is not my cup of tea either, but she can have it.

  16. I very much like the coat, I am partial to fall colors and love the length, the earrings bring a little light to the outfit. I think the dress is appropriate and a good effort combining the very expensive coat with a very affordable dress, it reminds me of the 70's , it's somewhat blah, but if it was to be worn by one of us, it could be elevated with a red or yellow belt, or or substituting the bow with a bright scarf, or green, red, black boots.. endless combinations, but definitely she is wearing it according to her style.
    She looks lovely as usual.

I like the dress the way it is, classic and tasteful. A loud, bright color would cheapen the look.

  17. Wonderful outfit from Kate, I like it a lot. The Duke also looks handsome.

Did you see the video of William gifting a rose to his wife? Wonderful gesture :-)

It looks like a lot of fun when they are mixing drinks. I remember almost similiar pics from last year, when Kate did the barkeeping-job, too.

  18. Catherine looks beautiful in the coat and the dress. The black and white checks of the dress fabric looks fresh and crisp. I don't mind the bow; I think she tries to dress modestly during day engagements. William looks very good too. He and Catherine seem so at ease mingling about. Good for them.

  24. The coat looks great but that granny dress is just awful. She needs some color. By the way, why is her bow "wonderful" but Victorias "ridiculous"? I woul'd like to have those earrings. It does not belong here, but in instagram someone posted 20 headlines from british newspapers where Kate was prised and Meghan was hauled in similar-looking clothes and situations. And yes, the most pictures were from Daily "Fail". Disgusting.

It was only yesterday that the Daily Fail was bashing Kate (AND her mother) every day because she was a commonor, untill Meghan came along. Unbelievable the English tolerate such a "gutter press" bringing down people in a way that fortunately doesn't exists in my country (Holland)
Kate looks good, I am not very fond of these long coats and dresses but she can wear everything.

    2. Dear Elenor, we both live in very civilized countries, I am from Finland and I love your Royal family, Maxima is the best! Of course I am proud of our president and his wife and of our young prime minister (woman), but they are not so glamorous, hahah.

Kate looks good in this outfit. Green always looks good on her and the dress is a perfectly suitable, working style, everyday kind of dress.
Yes indeed. The Daily "Fail" and the UK gutter press have been relentless against Meghan since day one with horrendous made-up dramatic headlines. Sadly, other publications repeat it or make up their own, knowing the falsity of the reports - just to make money, have ad revenue and increase readership. No wonder they don't want to be exposed to this abuse and discrimination by not living in that country. These are very sad times.

to anon 16:22 New members of the royal family must be patient and win respect of the public through patient work and learn from possible mistakes. Not to take every criticism as a personal attack. Kate did it, so did Sophie Wessex and Camilla too (and she had a terrible reputation after Diana's death). Meghan wanted popularity immediately and could not cope with criticism - in case a hypocritical environmental campaign This surprised me because she presented herself as a strong woman, 36-year-old divorced woman at the time of the wedding, with experience with media .
Royal life is on one hand a high position, luxury, money, staff, travel, meetings with exceptional people, clothes from
famous designers and on the other hand: lack of privacy, public scrutiny and public criticism, media pressure. All in one package. Take everything or leave it. Royals can not only take the positives. Kate earned respect.
I remember in your country (the Netherlands) the attacks against Princess Mabel, against Maxima , so do not say there is no "gutter press" in the Netherlands.

Zucchina, that is because lots of people are subjective on their views even in fashion, if they dislike somebody everything they wear is horrible, and if they like them the opposite is true. They also choose who to love or hate based on the gutter press rumors, when in reality we know absolutely nothing about these public persons private lives or character traits. Let's face it, unkind people are always looking for a chance to be offended, a chance to judge, a chance to vent their own frustrations.
I personally enjoy fashion, and choose not to read any of the trash that the tabloids publish.

    6. I think it's not about 'wow' at Kate and 'no' at Vicotria ( I love a lot of Victorias Style)
it's not about the bow itself, it's the combination of shape, fabric, colours and attitude I guess, that some things look very nice retro and some things look old fashionend, matronley and not so nice.

  25. Kate looks lovely, lovely..well, except for the granny dress. She's 38, tall and slim, and I wish she'd choose different dresses.

Loved the green coat, the shoes, the hair, and the overall classy, happy, focused-on-the-event-not-herself demeanor of this beautiful woman. She is a credit to her family and to her country! (and yes, I have said and thought that from the beginning of her time as Duchess)
