Danish Queen Margrethe's speech for the New Year 2020

Queen Margrethe of Denmark gave her New Year speech at Christian IX’s Mansion at Amalienborg Palace. The Queen addressed many topics in her speech: climate change, loneliness, second world war, Schleswig-Holstein, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, soldiers and other civil servants, and her family. There are three tupilaks on the table, which the Queen has personally received on various occasions. Tupilak means "The Ancestor's Soul" and is a small Greenlandic figure, formed in materials such as wood, bones, teeth and antlers from reindeer. ( Full speech : Kongehuset)

  2. Can't wait for more details around the confirmation of Prince Christian later this year, I am sure it would be as memorable as Princess Ingrid's confirmation last year.

  4. Queen Margrethe looks particularly regal in this picture. I don't know why. Perhaps it is her serene look, or maybe the setting. She looks very pretty in the soft blue blouse and the gray shawl. I wish we had a closer look at the pendant. The artifacts on her desk are interesting and beautiful.

I love the fact that she always does the new year's speech live...it's not taped earlier. So, it's what happens happens. This year, the queen had a cold and had to blow her nose during the speech...as natural as that is. Her outfit is very nice and relaxing, and I think she looks absolutely lovely and energized these days - AJ
