  1. Lovely blouse, but she should not wear skirts with horizontal lines- makes her look wider. Queen Leticia and Dutchess Catherine can get away with such style.

This one on Mathilde actually ins't too bad. She looks pretty good in it. I think it's a combination of the spacing of the stripes - some are closer together than others - and the fact that's it's an "A" line skirt and not form fitting around her mid-section and hips. But as a rule I totally agree with you. I always tell people, "Unless you're a negative size 2 or working in a prison yard, you have no business wearing horizontal stripes!" LOL. And imo, the worse is on a pregnant woman. What are you thinking?! Really? :D

    2. She looks great and should wear what she wants. How is her outfit important when there are so many other things to pay attention to. Do everything in love...just love.

Well, this is a fashion blog (I'm amazed at how many people seem to forget that) so we're commenting on, hello?, *the fashions.* Yes, of course, there are FAR MORE important things going on in the world but here, we talk fashion. That's why a lot of come here - to take a few moments of escape from the horrors of the world. Jeepers. I guess we can't have that.

Any fashion designer worth their salt will tell you that if not done correctly for the body type of the individual wearing them, horizontal stripes can be a disaster. If you want to get scientific about it, it all comes down to the human brain. It sees horizontal as wide and vertical as long. It's just the way we are wired. Sorry. Complain to the Gods and the Creators (or whatever your origin beliefs are). It is what it is. So when someone wears horizontal stripes for most regular folks with regular eyeballs and brains seeing it, it makes them appear larger and wider than they actually are. If you've been blessed with a brain that functions differently, good for you! :-) I'm happy for you! Really.

    4. Yes, this is a fashion blog, and it seems that when we give our opinion about clothing and another reader doesn't agree, they quickly lecture us about how unimportant and frivolous our comments are... enough already! We know that there are so many things happening in the world, but sometimes we choose to take a walk in the park, watch dog and cat videos, or read fashion blogs... If this blog is so insubstantial, please just move along.
Mathilde is a lovely and handsome woman, but this skirt is very unflattering and it takes away from her fantastic figure.. there I said it.

  5. The outfit is okay and the Queen looks great as usual. Personally not a fan of horizontal stripes ever, and really don't think they are flattering on Mathilde, The dress from the second reception is my winner so far.

The fabrics of the blouse and skirt go well together, however, the neckline of the blouse looks to 'casuual' for the skirt. Otherwise a lovely outfit.

Congratulations, her Majesty! There isn't any tiny bit to complain about.
The skirt is fantastic and the ear clips are magic. Great!

  9. Queen Mathilde's blouse is gorgeous; her hair, earrings and makeup are nice; but I'm not a fan of her skirt. If the fabric weren't so stiff, the skirt would have conformed to her body and given her a sleeker line. Her smile is beautiful!

This is a big no for me. As said before, only very slim women can get away with these full skirts of stiff material (Natan, no doubt)..... Máxima was wearing something like it the other day.....
