  1. Best dressed is, for me, Queen Silvia. Madeleine and Sofia: wonderful colours, but they shine in the first place because of their beautiful young faces and skin: the lack of fabric on their young skin is a statement in itself, so to say. It is not such a big task to be beautiful ... but Silvia! this is a whole different class for me, this dress is sophisticated and subtle and complements her perfectly, I love it.

And now we come to dearest Pricess Victoria, who seems to double the space she needs for herself at Nobel ceremonies. Somewhere in the middle of black and white complications there must be Victoria, her naked left shoulder and her smiling face tell us so. This is not a dress, this is a drama of more than one acts. 1. Well said Ann. Perfect description of Victoria's dress.😀

    2. Elie Saab is a wonderful designer.

    3. It is an eiderdown. (i.e. an old fashioned word for a quilt). I think she should have left it on her bed. Madeleleine looks gorgeous . I don't think her earings suit her though. Sofia also looks super. Not sure about Queen Silvia's necklace I do not think it belomngs with this dress.

    4. Joann - I sort of agree with almost everything everyone else has said. They all looked beautiful. However, I didn't care for Madeleine's earrings (too overpowering). They take away from her natural beauty. One's eyes automatically goes for the earrings. Also, I didn't like the falling strands of hair on Sofia. (I can't get used to the new hair styles.) As for Victoria, she is not looking sleek and chic as the other ladies. And I wonder if that is intentional on her part. She is taking into account her future role. She will not be a Queen Consort, but the reigning Monarch. And I think she has to not allow fashion to define her and avoid "expressing herself" through fashion. Queen Elizabeth II always looks elegant, but it is clear she is above fashion. The only other female monarch I can compare to this is Queen Margrethe. She seems to be able to carry a "style" and yet be seen as a serious monarch. And I think that's because people see her as an accomplished artist as well as a reigning monarch.

    5. Ann, you really said what I thought exactly. Silvia is by far the best for me, she is absolutely stunning in this Elie Saab dress that we saw earlier this fall i Lebanon. Madeleine and Sofia are sweet. Victoria, leave the bedcover at home next year, you are worth better than to support Swedish designers whether they are good or not. In this case it should be reported to the police, it is a attempt to murder by drowning the wearer in fabric.

    6. But maybe that's exactly the problem: Apparently she needs the feeling of putting more space between herself and the rest of the visitors to the event, and that's what gives her this dress.

      Hm.

Either Victoria tries to make herself "invisible" in inconspicuous, not age-appropriate outfits or she keeps the other people at a distance with huge dresses.

It used to be different and I do not like it.
I hope the Crown Princess feels good.

    7. Księżniczka Madeleleine wyglądała prześlicznie w tych kolczykach, dlatego nie miała naszyjnika. Przepiękny kolor i fason sukni księżnej Sofii. Księżniczka Victoria miała wręcz bajkową suknię do tego srebrne pantofelki. Cudowna suknia i pantofelki królowej Sylvii. Niektórzy z gości też mieli ciekawe stroje np bluzka pani siedzącej obok króla. Rewelacja.

    8. @Joann, "She is taking into account her future role." Very thoughtful and well said. And I do remember other occasions where Victoria is huge by means of a voluptous "Victorian" dress. There must be more to it than style preference. - I just glue something else to this notice, re the colour turquoise. Sofias dress is to much of turquoise-ness for me. Not an easy tiara stone to match, but certain mint or aqua tones, i.e. "diluted" tuquoise, could do the job better than this ocean of turquoise. (Ann.)

  2. My absolute favorite dress is the one worn by Princess Madeleine. Stunning.
The CP Victoria’s dress is too much, in my honest opinion.
The Queen looks fantastic, also Princess Sofia s dress is beautiful.

  3. While I'm still not fond of Victoria's dress, it does look a great deal better when she is standing up and walking down the stairs. Still, it is far too much dress for this beautiful woman.

  4. They should have given the aquamarine tiara to Sofia, Madeleine should have chosen a simpler one with that bright coloured dress (in my opinion...)

    1. Ooooh NO !!! Nevernevernever ever the aquamarine tiara to Sofia !!
No one can wear this tiara so charmant like Madeleine, it's exactly the colour of her eyes and looks beautiful on her.
And it is the tiara of a real princess, not of a business woman who has married a prince to play princess for the rest of her life....

      Delete
    2. What a ridiculous thing to say!! The tiara may or may not ever get worn by Princess Sofia. But I think, with her blue eyes, it would look fantastic on her. I have read that many places. That being said, I believe that judgemental people who still blame her or fault her In some way for her past need to grow up and get a life. Since she has married her prince, she has not put a foot wrong. And has done whatever the family has required of her. And it also seems like she has their support. There is a saying that the best revenge is to live your life well. And she is. She has. She has a wonderful prince and two beautiful boys. I always root for the underdog. Because everyone deserves a chance to be the best they can be. Sofia herself has said her past and her choices have made her what she is. But perhaps she would have done things differently. She can’t change it. But she is in a great position to take up her causes and help to influence others. She has done a smashing job. Good for her. Marie

    3. She doesn’t play a princess sweetheart. She is one. Get over it. Some people...... she looks stunning in those turquoise jewels tonight. Lovely look for her against her dark hair. Meg

  5. Queen Sylvia is definitely the best here. Lovely look for her. Victoria looks like she’s dragging her bed covers with her. Madeline and Sofia look like very fancy bridemaids.

  6. How I wished that Queen Silvia had worn the Cameo Tiara instead of the Nine Prong Tiara. It would have gone so well with that wonderful Elie Saab dress. This cream and gold ensemble screams for it, but not so much for diamonds only. Pity. I like the flexibility of Princess Sofia's Wedding Tiara, now in a new Turquoise setting. It goes with Emerals, Diamonds and Pearls, and now with Turquoises as well. Good. I also like her dress except the lower part of the sleeves. Madeleine might be my favourite tonight. Victoria's dress is from an Eritrean-Swedish designer. But to me it looks like a huge quilted bed-spread wrapped around her. It surely makes a statement, but I think it's too overwhelming. Her tiara looks good and right for this black'n white ensemble. Let's look at the gowns and tiaras tomorrow night.

    1. I think you're right about Queen Silvias tiara. I love this dress since she wore it for her State visit to Lebanon. But the Cameo Tiara would have been a stunning addition.

  7. How elegant, celebratory and regal is the Queen!!! Amazing how much class she has. A lesson for all of us. The younger princesses (Madeleine and Sophia) are alright. But mostly just that: young. Victoria... baffles me more often than not. How did it happen for her not to inherit the class her mother has?

  8. ok, where to start:
    The queen looks great :-)

Victoria: hairstyle, jewellery, makeup, smile - perfect and lovely as always.
But that dress? .. omg... Sorry to say, because usually I really love her style. But this dress is really not nice. it looks a bit like material for a sleeping bag.. and that right sleeve-thing.. no, just no. Beautiful woman, but bad dress.

    Sofia:
She really looks fabulous, great dress, great colour! Wonderful makeup, jewellery and smile!
But her tattoo really looks 'cheap' with the style imho.
Beside the tattoo she's the best dressed and styled for me today.
Does her tiara have new *toppings* ? It's her wedding tiara, isn't it? It seems to have new blue toppings, that fit perfectly with the dress, or? I remember it with diamonds and with green topping, but blue is new, or?

    Madeleine:
She really looks fantastic here, I like dress, makeup, jewellery a lot.

The nobel laureate ladies and the wife of the chairman also look very good :-)

    Congratulations to all the winners!

  9. It seems to me that Victoria is wearing the quilted comforter from her bed. What was she thinking? Silvia, Madeleine and Sofia all look beautiful in their gowns. I love Sofia's tiara with turquoise and her earrings.

  10. Wow the gowns are beautiful;each one is different. The ladies tiaras are also quite striking;the jewels are amazing;my favourites would have to be,Queen Silvias and the large Gems in Madeleine's. You could feed a small nation with the sale of those items;I know they are jewels that have been passed down through the generations;but in this day and age

  11. Yes!!! New ornaments for her tiara - Turquoise!!! She has now worn the Tiara 4 ways.....

    2. Pearl Toppers

  12. My initial reaction to Victoria’s gown was very positive; the striking black and white, the dramatic neckline and the bare shoulder on one side and pouffy sIeeve on the other are beautiful and glamorous on her, I think. However, regretfully I have to agree that there is just too much going on here. I’d love the gown without the jeweled embellishments that are scattered over it, and without the strange white things at the sides that seem to be attached to the overly heavy train. Editing would have made this dress completely stunning, imo. I even like the Baden Fringe tiara with it — I didn’t think anything could make me like the Baden Fringe (aka the Peckish Piranha) tiara.

Sofia and Madeleine look breathtaking; I would only change out Madeleine’s rigid-looking earrings for something in an equally dramatic but more fluid style.

Silvia actually doesn’t wow me here, even though I normally love Elie Saab.

  13. The queen's tiara does not really suit the gown she is wearing. Victoria, however lovely, has on the strangest gown that looks like a quilted bed blanket, and Sophie's dress is pretty, but those sleeves are so odd. Even PM, looks odd, with buttons going up the back, with no place to go, the pink is better suited for a spring/summer occasion, rather than such a formal occasion. PM's earrings, take over everything, even outdoing the beautiful tiara she is wearing. Sophia's tiara is different, but it the side clutter of hanging hair that gets in the way of completing her outfit.

  16. Each royal is fabulous in their own way, they all brought their A-game. But Victoria stole the show in that vintage-looking, 80s style gown. Over-the-top fabulosity and she knows it. Love it.

  17. Queen Silvia looks beautiful. Gown is gorgeous, love her choice of jewels. Madeleine's dress is lovely especially on movement, the back buttons add interest and the folds flow well at the back, lovely colour, she carries herself so well, she has the most perfect posture. Princess Sophia looks lovely, but not keen on the deflated sleeves, it loses the wow factor for me. Her choice of jewels, superb. CP Victoria, the material unfortunately looks like a quilt. The idea was there. Her hair, makeup and jewels were stunning.

I won't comment on Victoria, such a bad taste for me.
    The Queen looks régal.
And Madeleine knows how to do it. Big gun tiara and earrings, and simple dress.

    2. Beth and Nanni - you´re both so right. None of the princesses got it right, and it´s a pity because they are actually good at this. These looks don´t do justice to this occasion. And even though Victoria has generally disappointed lately with her day looks, we could usually still count on her to bring her A-game to the big galas and banquets. I, too, am sad to notice that her ridiculous, unflattering choices have made their way into her evening wardrobe. I used to enjoy watching her, but lately, it´s become more and more painful as most of her choices are either try-hard trendy or unflatteringly frumpy. Why???

  22. Madeleine was the winner for me. Great posture, hair, jewellery. dress, its style and color. Simple, yet, stunning and gorgeous look. After 3 kids she's in better shape than ever.
Sofia looked also good in blue. Not sure abou those puffy sleeves. Its good to see her tiara is so versatile.
Victoria...sigh, one of her worst looks. Its not masquerade but Nobel Awards ceremony. Its like she tried to get all the attention on herself but failed. Yikes, this gown look ridiculous, unsuitable and ugly. Even her smile and jewellery could not save it!
Silvia...still in good shape and lovely in golden Elie Saab dress. Its a shame no Cameo tiara but again nine prong.

  26. MY OPINION: The Queen looks elegant as always. Crown Princess Victoria's dress looks like a quilt. What was she thinking? Princess Sofia should get the waterproof cover-up cream for that tattoo on her back. It looks cheap and unattractive. Princess Madeleine, however, never fails to look like the ultimate princess. She looks very lovely.

  31. When I first saw Victoria's dress, I thought she had revived something Queen Silvia had worn in the past and that made it interesting. She has worn a Silvia Nobel gowns at least once before. No one has mentioned this possibility, so I am thinking no - this is a dress Victoria has sought out. Hum. I do love the drama! - Katiebob

  32. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that Madeleine looked a bit different around the eyes, did she have a lift? I also thought he forehead was higher, looked like her gaze was brighter. Someone commented it was just because of her makeup but I think it is more a lift of the eyelids or something (apparently that procedure is not trendy).
